What are your experiences hauling in the pecos area? How are the roads and wait times on the lact?

I lasted in Pecos for a month. The lease roads are the worst I've experienced. I've worked in South Texas, North Central Texas and in Louisiana. Some are even county roads where you may have to travel 15-20 miles before you get to the lease, driving 15mph because you can't go any faster or get shaken to death lol. The main roads are great, it's once those tires hit the dirt. In South Texas lease roads are all coleechee, in Pecos and surrounding areas they are rock it seems. A lot of leases are in a conglomerated area, meaning, there is one road in with miles and miles of roads off the main entrance, meaning it can get extremely challenging trying to find your lease as directions are tough to give and/or follow. Pecos itself has everything you need, except housing. Quite a few restaurants (closed on Sundays), Walmart, a couple truck stops...Nothing at all to do there as you are in the middle of nowhere. Closest civilization is Midland/Odessa, approximately 70 miles away. Prices there are skyrocketed for everything, especially housing. For what it's worth, my advice would be to find a position either in Midland/Odessa or Hobbs, NM. Again, this is just my advice, but I was there last July-August and doubt anything has changed. Good luck.

Haystak88.....what is the terrain like on the majority of the leases and other roads working out of Pecos? Level to rolling or a lot of steep hills like in Iraan area? Been enough years since I have been through there I don't recall what it is like,

Flat, extremely flat. I don't remember seeing any hills at all. Well, heading west towards NM I guess there were some hills. I didn't know Iraan had hills. The elevation in Pecos is 2,600ft. though, but you can't tell. Maybe that doesn't mean much, but being from FL at sea level I thought it was interesting.

    Patt52 Thanks this.

Haystak88... thanks, that's what I was thinking, flat for the area around Pecos. Yep, the Iraan area has some pretty steep hills. More evident off the interstate. Scenic area!
