Hi drivers! I have been driving class A for over 2 years now. First 1 year and 3 months with Service transport co. OTR then transferred to Gulfmark Energy hauling Crude oil for the past 10 months in Houston Tx. Just had our first baby and want mamma to stay home with the baby. So I have been looking around to find another company in Houston,TX to work for to make enough for my wife to say home and get health insurance for all 3 of us. currently I'm making 800-1000 a week (take Home) insurance for the whole family is gonna be 450 more a month. I have seen that dupre logistics is hiring but worried that they won't have enough work for me to make good money. Since they have been hiring many drivers the past few months. Any Houston Dupre drivers out there could you let me know how your work volume has been going I would greatly appreciate it. Also any other Crude oil Drivers that could let me know if there are better options. Thanks in advance and Safe travels!

Dupre has plenty of work. They are only going to get busier. I wouldn't let the mass hiring intimidate you when it comes to ample work for everyone. Typically we only do one load a day, because of distance traveled, hence the mass hiring. You can get your 12 hours if you really take your time and show up to unload around 130p-200p, which is what every driver does and management seems to be fine with it. As far as insurance goes, it's a bit pricy. Don't forget about the 40-hour guarantee if it does ever slow down.

I'm currently employed with Dupre Logistics.. Its ok if you like to be micro manage and for Health insurance premiums I pay $109 a week for a family of three. Over here I do one load a day and average 50hrs a week. If work slows down, Dupre will guarantee 40hrs a week

In Houston Dupre just laid off 18 crude oil drivers. I was told they gave some the option to haul gas instead, which pays less. The ones that refused were laid off.

So there is not one company in Houston hiring crude drivers right now, I'm told there is some hiring in west Texas , but not in Houston. I'm still hauling oil in Houston , but it's slow I'm not making nearly as much money as I was just a few months ago, don't know if I'm gonna try to ride it out or move on to Chemical hauling. If I were to quit I would not be replaced.
