    Greetings,

I am in the hiring process with Acme Drive Away in Von Ormy, TX. Does anyone have any experience or information about Acme - San Antonio Drive Away?

Specifically, the benefits, hours (number of hours per week), pay (yearly), duties, the quality of the equipment, how they treat their drivers, employee moral/turnover rate, etc, etc?

And, if I am reading the map correctly, Von Ormy is some 20-25 minutes from San Antonio? Is there reasonable housing in Von Ormy or at some location between the two?

So, Got Info? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    I thank you in advance...........

I'm "hiring on" with ACME's OKC terminal hauling flatbed to the rigs and will start in a week or so. My understanding is that ACME doesn't officially hire you, the owner of the truck hires you, but you are approved by ACME. ACME handles the payroll for the owner. Your pay is whatever you agree with the owner. I'll be at 25%.

I haven't delved into the benefits closely yet, but know there is medical, etc.

Von Ormy is on the south side of San Antonio off of 35. as for places to live, there are apartment complexes off 410 not 10 miles away. so housing shouldn't be an issue. can't help ya with ACME, i haul sand for CAB Logistics, pretty sure we still have a yard there that covers the south Texas area, i've been out west the last few months so don't know for sure. best of luck there Driver.

70-30 split with acme.. Not the best. Drivers don't really earn unless you're in a tandem. 75-25% would be better. 80-20 is the best as far as being leased goes.

The OP is showing as a Student, so I'm assuming he isn't going in as an O/O, but as an employee of an O/O. Pay ranges anywhere from 19% to 30% TTT depending on what you agree with your owner/boss.

While a larger split TTT is always better for an O/O I think at least in the OKC terminal the 18 wheel flat bedders are doing quite fine. My brother is grossing about $8000 per week and is pretty happy with it. They also have a heavy haul division and they are doing much better than that.

Yes, you are almost right........ mostly right............ although my profile shows me as a student, I am being hired as a company driver, not an OO. Have not figured how to change the profile to remove the "student" part.
