Hey Unloader. I tried to send this as a p.m. but couldnt. I've never posted on the forum but I've been a long time visitor & reader. I've seen in several older posts that you work for Stephens tanker division. I was just wondering if they're still busy? Which location is the best to work for them? Is they're housing expensive? Do they have a rotation? I worked in North Dakota for almost 2 years on the drilling side & it dried up. Just trying to find something to get me by till prices go back up. I'm 2 months shy of having 2 years experience driving & can't get hired on up there. Thanks for your time.

It's kind of a mixed bag right now. I work in the Stockdale yard and hours have taken a hit this past couple of weeks. What was easily 60-65 hours a week has turned into a wide variety of hours..

I'm happy to get 55 hours a week. 50 if I have to and less than 45 I start to get cranky. March was a good month for me. So was the beginning of April. I thought for sure things were on the mend. Then the end of April reared it's ugly head.

I don't think I'd recommend jumping into the oilfields at this time, simply because everyone is cutting back. I've even seen drivers leave Stevens recently only to end up back here weeks later because the grass really wasn't greener at the other company.

Work is down across the board and what is up this week seems to be down the next. I do know we are still hiring, but you will simply be replacing someone who got tired of getting sent home. If you can stomach the uncertainty of hours you'll get any given week come on down! Lol

As for your other questions. We do shift work. Nights or days. Five days on two days off. No rotations. I have some good days off which is why I have stuck in out this long. Plus I generally like it here. I do my job and go home. No fuss, no drama, but lots of unorganized bs... Which gets to a lot of guys, but it doesn't bother me much. You ##### about it and then get on down the road.

Stevens housing is expensive. Very expensive. I do not recommend. Housing in San Antonio, Seguin, Floresville is very affordable. The commute really isn't that bad as long as you get your sleep.

Best of luck to you whatever you decide.

Oil is hovering in the upper fifties, not to bad.

Thanks for the info. I figured their recruiters were full of it. They told me their drivers were getting 65 hours every week. I think I'm going to just get something local for now then head back to North Dakota when oil comes back up.
