yeah, thanks. clone seems to have hit on something I am seeing a lot in the oilfield.

He applied one day and started work the next. Not much time to check references, thou I guess possible. But just as plausible is he was sized up during an impromptu interview and an agreement sealed with a handshake...

I am just curious what his experience was.

When the oilfield is booming they'll check the basics. MVR and criminal background. I'm sure you'll ride and drive with somebody for a day or two before they cut you loose on your own. If a man can't get a job in the oilfield right now he doesn't want to work.

I'm not going as far as looking up the hottest temps in Texas history. All I know is 6 indentical trucks were sitting in the Texas heat and the outside thermometers read anywhere from 124 to 127 degrees. It was hot. Period.

We had to run the hell out of our air conditioners but we were comfortable. The black roof on our trucks IMO made them harder to keep cool.

I'm following another thread on TTR from a guy who obtained a CDL in an untraditional way. He basically rented a truck and received minimal instruction needed to pass the test. Another driver said he would never get a driving job without formal training.

I keep hearing how easy the oilfield driving jobs are to get. Did the company you hired on with even ask how you got your license?
Ya they asked what kind of school it was. I offered to show them my certificate and give the the phone number of the school, but they declined. They just wanted toknow what kind of school it was and what we did.

I feel like it is super easy to get these jobs if you have a clean back ground since there are so many signs around town., but it is still driving so they probably want some better training than the one day courses.

(sorry for any typos, sent from my phone)
