Asphalt warrior, From the research I have been doing on the oil patch I heard it over and over, that all you have to do is show up in person and not be a violent felon. Back in the 70s I did just that in west texas and was working on a pulling unit the next day with no exp. but it is kinda like that deadliest fishing show, gotta put out the hrs. and suck it up. There is also zero housing and cost of anything is high. (750.00- 1000.00 for a RV hook up).
Might try to goggle shoppers inc williston and Williston herald for more info.
Pretty much decided I'm getting to old for oil fields or construction, so just finished CDL school and when I get enough time otr I'll be there if it is still shaking.

He’s making #### good.I'm ready to head up that way but can't until after my wife has surgery since there isn't anyone that can help watch the kid's. I’mbrowsing trying to do my homework and figure out how I’m going to afford to getmy hazmat back since we are behind in bills and I’m currently out of work.

This is the truth! Gold Spur Trucking has to have the highest turnover rate of any company I've ever heard of! I worked for them in Texas and they are absolutely horrible! They treat their drivers like crap. Don't give a #### if half of their trucks don't have AC...even if it's 100+ degrees in South Texas. They promise you things and never follow up on them. Such as raises, better equipment, better mechanics, more hours, etc. The pay sounds good but they constantly cut your hours because they have to fill the trucks with all the new hires to replace all the drivers they know they're going to lose or fire. I could go on and on. Just do yourselves a favor and DO NOT work for Gold Spur...unless you enjoy being treated like crap and being lied to!

Well we get paid bi-weekly. Its usually around $3k net, but I work nights & get paid 30% higher. Also figure in the $3k bonus per quarter. They do not provide any housing assistance.

Excellent safety oriented company & I have no complaints.

Has work picked up for the contractors or is it still hit and miss? We are out of Dickinson working for MBI , went good for about 3 weeks and now fell flat again. Any ideas?

Onthego, you about have that right. A lot of places will ignore you until the moment you show up. When you do show up, wear nice clothes and be clean shaven. I've heard the whole "dress the part" bit but these companies have 1000s of people applying for a job...it's getting to the point they can pick and choose.

Belly dumps are busy right now, but it is a hit and miss with them...especially when weight restrictions are in place. My 1st job here was driving a belly dump and in 2 weeks, I had 11to hours...you may have better luck with a different company though.

If you have a new CDL, don't get discouraged. You WILL get a 100 nos, but keep at it. Tons of companies here...one will give you a chance. Just stay positive...

Hi, I'am living in the Beulah/Hazen area in ND and I'am currently working as a RoustAbout in killdeer, but I'am looking to switch to driving. I have a Class A with N,T endorsements. I have over 5 years xp on stake trucks and other class B trucks. I have a good driving record and my DOT card already. I'am thinking I want to drive a sand truck, but would be willing to do water or flatbed too. If anyone is looking for a driver in this area let me know, but I would want at least 60 hours a week. I also have no issue with working nights/weekends/holidays.

    Thank You,
    PureEvil

Hi drivers! I'm flying up to Billings, MT with my wife to visit my son, his gf and new baby. I'm also going to be checking on jobs out there. We will be heading out to see her mom out in Baker, MT and was wondering if anyone has any info on either location work wise. Ive been lurking on here for awhile but haven't seen much about Baker except for info on Power Fuels. I will be checking on them while out there.
I use to post alot on Another site: CAD, if anyone wants any background on me.
Anyways. Just got a green light gotta go!
TGIF ! Last day before vacation starts!
