FYI, a few trucking jobs up here in NW ND & NE MT.

Straight tanker pulling pup tanker, hauling water to crude

    Vac tanker, hauling sand

    Side dump, construction work

    Semi tanker, crude - water

Most require min 1yr + Hazmat, starting pay between $17.50 - 20.00 hr, crude hauling pays the most up to $28.50 hr, but requires 3yr verifiable tanker exp. Some jobs are on the web but others only advertise local, some do not even advertise but are looking to hire. Accomadation is very difficult I'm still in a hotel after 8 wks waiting for somewhere to rent. If you have a camper or motorhome you ve got it made.

Well their is some activity in NW SD, but as far as I know, many of the oil gas trucking co's in this area are out of Gillette WY and Western ND. Stanley ND is the center of the Bakken Field. Many rumours of a new expansion in drilling is building up, the co I work for is looking for a yard to lease / buy in Stanley. Their quite a bit of new activity in NE MT this extendeds from ND going west for around 70 / 100 miles then north into Canada.

Wow I havent heard anyone mention Stanley for years. We used to have to go out there to the bar to drink, I think it was called the Scenic or something back then, because they let us in when we were underage

Nice man! Thanks for the info. I've been looking at Stanley since I read a story on Yahoo and saw a piece on one of the nightly news broadcasts.

I have a CDL but no experience. Been tough trying to get hired.

Since you're right there on the ground, what kind of prospects would a guy with no experience have?

Also, I'm looking at working the beet harvest this year and was planning a scouting mission out to western NoDak afterward. What king of non-driving job prospects are you seeing out there? Any general labor type of stuff on the oil fields?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

If you have a cdl but no experience find a Rig Moveing outfit and hire on as a swamper it is basically a general labor position but you get to ride around in a truck and learn how to drive so that you can move up into your own truck. It is pretty labor intensive and you have to work out in the weather but all in all not a bad job. Some of the rigmovers in Nodak are Black Hills Trucking, IE miller, Peak USA and Speedy Heavy Hauling.

I've been in N. Dakota since November. A lot of rigs are shut down right now, but there is still some oil-field trucking jobs. Some of you that are out of work and don't mind being away from home for a couple months should look at driving for a harvest crew. They are going strong until about mid-November, then break until May when they start harvest again. Year-round work is available with some crews.

Can you give me some names that are hiring. I'm familiar with Black Hills, any others? I'd like to get on somewhere around Stanley or further west. Thank you.

Power fuels might be one. I know I hauled alot of frac trailers up there and they were looking at the time, but I don't have hazmat and I don't get paid enough at my current job to afford the $150 to get it either.

Besides I smoke, not a good combination.
