old dominion freight lines

I would like to give a little history about this company. I was employed with them from almost 9yrs, perfect safety record no tickets or accidents and even received a million mile award with them. On 2/18/2007 I was turning left from a complete stop at a stop sign and whereupon making the left turn my pintle hook on the lead trailer broke causing my pup trailers to seperate and therefore my rear trailer laid over on its side. The Kansas DOT officer that worked the accident concluded this was a mechanical failure and no driver error therefore no ticket was issued to either me the driver or the company.
To make a long story short the company ruled this accident was DRIVER PREVENTABLE WITH TERMINATION!!
Just wanted everyone to know that, if you are looking into going to work for these folks

fortuitous

the more rediculous the excuse, the bigger the favor to you. you were probably weeded out for lower paid newbies. thats the sum of the wacky equation.

odfl, no way

Well well, for I don't know if your're lucky or slow??? Sorry about the slow thing, but for I worked out of the Tonawanda terminal and from the start got jerked around, for I was working for a company that had equipment and just didn't remind me of a trucking company, so I went over to OD, five months later I was told that I was never hire as a full time employee which meant that I gave up medical, vacation and any other benefits that the company that I left to go to OD for, now I ask when did this change and when was they going to tell me about it, no answer, so maybe a month later, I found another job and gave them there two weeks notice and then was told that they would hire me on as full time with a raise if I stayed on, so like a fool I did, and I would see myself being cheated out of hours and also forced to go over hours in order to get the job done, but the final straw was when I was told to come in at 5 in the morning and then when I got there was told to go home and call back at 8 because there was no freight, well that was not my fault, and I felt that I should have been compensated for it and after that, I was finished, for Iwent out and found a different job and said good bye to the fools that I worked with, which was the terminal manager Bill and his cohort Jason, with these fools in charge a union is on the way or very much needed

The best company I've worked for.

I started with OD almost 4 years ago ,when they bought WSKT in my 27 yrs. in the freight biz. I have never worked for a better company!!The management has been both fair, and responsive. The benefits are good, The equipment is top notch,The pay for line-haul drivers is outstanding,No driver at my barn made less than 65k ,The top guy made more than 95k. I can,t speak for those other couple of guys [I dont investigate accidents] But if you know of a better place to work you hire on Immediately if not sooner!!!!
