Less-than-truckload carrier Old Dominion Freight Line announced Monday, Feb. 11, that it would purchase selected assets of Bob’s Pickup & Delivery, headquartered in Sidney, Mont.
Bob’s Pickup & Delivery produces about $10 million in sales annually through its network of 13 service centers in Montana -- Billings, Bozeman, Butte, Glendive, Great Falls, Havre, Helena, Kalispell, Lewistown, Miles City, Missoula and Sidney -- and Bismarck, N.D.
Effective Friday, Feb. 15, Old Dominion will add to its current route structure the 12 Bob’s terminal operations in Montana, and will combine the Bismarck facility, thus increasing the ODFL network to 204 service centers. Through the acquisition, Old Dominion Freight Line says it now will provide direct coverage to every state in the continental United States.
“Bob’s is a very well-run company with a strong franchise in Montana and the Bismarck, North Dakota market, and they have built an excellent reputation for providing quality transportation service," says Earl E. Congdon, executive chairman of the board for Thomasville, N.C.-based ODFL. "The move is consistent with our growth and service strategy, and is also consistent in keeping with our focus of building a world-class multiregional and national network.”
