Well i had a thread about school so figured i would start one up about my time with a trainer after school. I finished up with school on monday and i am supposed to head out with the trainer sometime next week.

If anyone has any advice on what to look out for with the trainer, you know things i shouldnt be doing or things the trainer shouldnt be asking me to do let me know. If anyone is or has been with a trainer recently chime in so i know what to look forward to. Thanks for any advice all of you have to offer.

at least a weeks worth of clothes, bedding(pillows, sleeping bag) personal grooming items (soap, shampoo, shaving items of that nature) and maybe a laptop to keep you occupied on your down time. Check with your trainer when you talk to them prior to being picked up on an other items, remember its the trainers truck and you are a guest

Also bring if possible a twin fitted sheet or another sheet to cover the mattress.
A small (Shower) bag for you clothes and toiletries for when using a shower.
A MP3 comes in handy for when you want your music, most trucks have an aux input on their radio, so bring a cord for that.
If you bring hard sided luggage you might end up having to store it on your bed.
There is not alot of room in your trainers truck for too much stuff that you will only need for the 3-4 weeks.

Well i finished up with my trainer the first week of june then did about 3months of team driving with a friend of mine that i went to school with. That was ok but scary sometimes. I came to the conclusion real fast that he couldnt drive at night time and whined alot about missing his family. He was about 13 yrs younger than me so before our home the first of sept i sat him down and had something like a father son talk with him about whether this is really the life for him or not. He couldnt drive at night because he couldnt stay awake without five hour energy drinks and rockstar which scaried the hell out of me, he couldnt stand being away from his daughter for more then acouple weeks at a time and had huge road rage. So at the end of our home time he decided to leave pam to pursue other avenues. I have been solo ever since and have enjoyed it much more, sure the pay is less but the aggreviation is far less also.

My time with the trainer was priceless. Sure we drover alot of miles(14200 in a month for me) but he actually taught me so much i thought i already knew. Not so much about the driving since i have driving in the past, but just things i needed to know about the industry and the company in general. He was a great mentor and i hope you end up with someone who just isnt in it for the money like my co drivers trainer was.

Good luck to you and be safe...
