I'm new to PAM, but I'm not new to trucking. I ask for home time as soon as I come off home time. So, at least two weeks in advance.

I put in to go home on 7/31. That's a week ago and they are still trying to get me to stay out longer. Is this normal for PAM?

My contract says out for two to three weeks and home for two to three days. This is BS. My DM says "we'll get you home next load" but it's not happening. I'm out of food, out of clean clothes and out of money because I thought i'd be home a week and a half ago.

I don't want to get into why, but I NEED to go home.

Its called pick up the phone get loud with your dm and make him listen. I had that same problem til I gave my Dm a nice few words and now I always get home on the day i put in or the day before every time now. Since they are being jerks about it be one right back to them!

My DM seems pretty good about hometime as long as I'm out at least 3 weeks and put in at least a week early for the hometime. This friday I'm attending the Brian Fisher ATV reunion in Patton, PA and made sure he knew I already spent close to a grand on tickets for me, the GF, and her kids, a campsite, and maintenance for the ATVs/bikes and showing up late is unacceptable. Give them a good reason and they will try to keep you happy. I also bust my hump when I am out not taking more downtime than necessary and bugging them for a load when I sit more than an hour waiting.

Yes it is norma. After 8 months of never getting home on time I had to get loud with my DM and his supervisor and still they just say no freight going your way. I would just refuse hauling anything that was not going home. It would have been different but I stayed out 5-7 weeks at a time and only took 3 days off. My advice is to call norma the driver liaison, she can help.

Note on Ms. Norma: She WILL back you up if she feels you're right. She's a sweetheart who immediately won my respect.

But lie to her, and she's your worst enemy.

I did speak to Norma and she ask "why did you wait so long to call me?" She put me on the phone with a superviser and within a half hour I had a load going home. So, all is good as long as my DM isn't ****** that I went to her.
