I have like three they won't give me credit for cuz they went directly to recruiters after talking to me here for weeks.

 

Just talked to a recruiter; with 7 yrs experience am promised .35/mi. Also promised 25-2700 mi per week mostly in Texas, hope the APU works!

Hey all...just wanted to chime in that I'll be starting with P.A.M in a week or so. I have some OTR experience from back in 2006-07 with USA. I'd have gone back to work for them except for a personality-challenged recruiter who told me I'd need to go back to truck driving school LOL.
Anywho, without driving hours in the past few years I'm limited to only a few companies. I reaaaallly didn't want to work for Swift so P.A.M it is. I have not heard a word about any mandatory teaming, maybe that's for the new school grads.

I read something earlier about a contract. Are you talking about deals where school tuition is paid for and you are under contract until the tuition is paid back ? I've not heard anything about a contract.

So my plan is to go through their "returning driver training" program and as soon as I'm in my own tractor, start puting out feelers for other companies so that once I have had several (more) months I will already have been on the radar of some of the more desirable companies.

I'll be posting more as I go along with P.A.M. Of course, I know what these companies are like, and I don't expect to be treated like royalty. I work hard, complain little and when I do it's worded as a calm and reasonable explanation of my point of view. But then, these companies could not care less of a driver is happy because they would just as soon tell me to hit the bricks and hire a new grad to replace me and get moar of that gub'mint munnee.

 

I think 3 years is the maximum PAM will allow you to be out of trucking and not have to go back to trucking school, even if you still maintain a CDL. It's very likely PAM, and probably any other trucking company for that matter, will require you to go through a school before they'll hire you.

I don't think you're going to get the outcome you're looking for. Keep us posted though.
