It's 6 months team, after trainer. However, I told them I couldn't sleep with the truck moving, or put up with anyone else in this small area! I drove solo my 2 plus years with them.

Seems like most of you are really hard to get along with....lol. The 6 month team thing can be a PITA, but it can also be very profitable. I drive for PAM, and still team for them ( well past 6 months). I chose my teammate in cdl school and we teamed up about a month after becoming "1st seat" drivers. we largely get along and put up reasonably well with each other's shortcomings. Sleep, yea that one kinda sucks, especially if you're running through Lowsyanna, but you are earning money while you sleep. The first year w/ PAM you can make 25 cents solo or 20 cents team. the team amount includes the .02 for hazmat which is payed on all miles. OK, so why do I team: Money. Driving as a team is the only way to make fair money your first year. .25 at 2700 miles average doesn't pay the bills, but I'm on a dedicated route that runs 5000 miles a week @ .20, which pays me a grand a week plus fuel bonuses. Because I team I get a coast to coast route and am out four days, home three days every week..... not typical I know, but that's what i've been running for 10 months now.......I will reevaluate when I see the new pay scale next month (anniversary), but will will probably ride this horse till it's dead..... just my $.02......

Thanks for the info. My orientation is first week of Jan and I'm eager beaver to get out there. I could get used to running like you do to the west coast and back, but that sounds like a gig I'll have to earn in time after paying my dues.

    Bigbaldberg.
I hope when you finish your year you guys might look around. I have friends that team. I just text all of them. They say 5000 and .20 per mile is not good money for team. You said you team for the money just encouraging you to explore options.

Thanks 7, Yea, most companies are doing a .50 split on teams and up, but for a first year driver, that's where the money has been. I'm not sure I'll team if my current route dies, I'm really spoiled with my 4 days out and 3 days home every week routine, the money is just the cherry on top :). i could be running 7k mile a week and home 4 days a month, but I do like my home time. lol.... btw, my route is FL to CA and back every week, hardly any snow this time of the year....lol . and I back a trailer twice every two weeks....lol.... i'm f'n spoiled.....
