First of all I want to say Hi and state a little about myself.

I am 28 years of age a father of 5, I have owned and operated a small Computer Company for over 7 years. In the last year the company has taken some major hits and now i sit with no ways of supporting my family from the self-employed aspect. My wife works for the State of Oklahoma and has for the past 4 years. Our children range from 9 years old to 1 year. My mother and step dad have been in the trucking industry for over 30 years and as a child i would ride with them and lump loads so I understand the life style. I am an Ex MP from the US army and have been away from family for 6 - 12 months at a time "even when running the computer company i could be out for weeks on end".

I have a family member that is wanting to start driving with me we have both spoke with Lavonna McClanahan and she stated that we could both start training at the same time, but we would have different OTR Tainer but would be put together as a team after the 2 weeks of OTR Training.

We understand the risks of pay, Owning my own company I would go weeks if not months with no income when i first started out.

We are wanting to know will they actually put us as a team? Is the time on the road really 3 weeks off and 3 days home on average (we understand there will be times that its 5 weeks out and 3 days home.

I would like to know more I have spent countless hours reading the forums here and other places and I get a feel that some are just angry people and some are truth.

If you will train to drive a co.truck after the cdl is in pocket you should say with ex. driver for some time till you can go it on your own. pay will come every week,

Thanks for the heads up orangepicker,

I have passed the Background and the Employment check now to do DOT physical and Drug Test.

I would love to hear more from people who work for pam or has worked for them in the past.

    Hi
My husband does trucking with PAM. They pay him 17 cents per mile on team driving. (23 for solo) He is OTR and leaves for 4 weeks at a time. Even though he is running team, he gets delayed a lot. He will be stopped for half a day to deliver sometimes. This month he got two paychecks of around $150 dollars because his truck broke down for several days, and the people at the shop couldn't get it fixed. He usually gets $400 paychecks, sometimes $700, but this is on a good week when he does over 6000 miles in a week. PAM is his starting company. He went with them so has a 1 year contract to get a credit for his schooling. If that contract was not existent he wouldn't be working there anymore.

Personally I believe they take advantage of the new drivers. He works all week, barely gets any rest, spends a lot of money over the road, (food, beverages and supplies) doesn't get pay that good, and they get upset when he requests home time. When he signed up they told him, he was going to get a dedicated route within four months from start, so he could be home every week at least. Not the case.

This is not atypical. There is a better plan, Charlie. Jus saying.
