I've got some rocker switches on my dash that don't light. You know, the on/off switches like mirror heat, foot lamps, engine fan, etc...

Are there bulbs in there that can be replaced or do you have to replace the whole frickin' switch? I looked at the back of the switches and didn't see where it's even possible to get in the switch.

Maybe the switch face panel is removable? Don't know, thought I'd consult the experts.

    Thanks in advance guys:biggrin_25514:

i havnt worked on pete lights like that--but--i think it was volvo lights i worked on--and i think they want you to replace the whole switch---we did however get the switch apart and manage to replace the bulbs--cause the switchs are expensive little boogers
all i can say is try one--maybe one that isnt critical--pry the sucker open--watch out for flying tiny springs and see if it can be done

yes you have to replace the switch, if memory serves me correctly, I dont think there is a serviceable bulb once you get in there. but I've been outta the pete hose since last year and I dont remember for sure.

I know the old ones had bulbs you could replace, but I don't know for sure what year they switched to LED's. Just pop off the cover of the switch and see which it has. I will tell you though, the bulbs are a ##### to replace without breaking the bulb. I used a pair of needle nose pliers with some rubber vaccum line on each tip of the pliers. But you still have to be careful, those little suckers are in there tight, lol.

Well there you go, I didn't know you could pop the cover off a switch. If these bulbs are so small, where do you think a guy could pick some up? Radio Shack maybe?

I actually got mine at my local Pete dealer, but if you pull one out, someone should be able to match it up.

Yeah, I've seen some in catalogs, but they say they're for '06 and newer. Mine's an '04. I've seen some Pete switches for sale online (new) and they were like 45 and 50 bucks each. That's not gonna work!

Take bulb to dealer. I have a 2000 and i had like 6 burned out bulbs. I got them for around 3 bucks a piece. Get extra.....

They are eaton ngr switches. The whole switch has to be changed. It is much cheaper to buy the switch through eaton or a eaton dealer as opposed to peterbilt. Go to eaton's website and look up their new genereration rocker switch's. If any body wants to replace theirs or maybe add circuits in their trucks, you will see the options available to do so despite what a salesman will tell you!

    Here's the solution:

The tops of the switches come off, exposing a tiny bulb that is only accessible using needle nose. Took a bulb to the stealer and got extra. Success at last.
Bulb was just over a buck a piece if I remember correctly, much cheaper than replacing the whole switch.
