Hey Rightlane, I have never heard of a manifold splitter before. Something from Pittsburgh Power? By the way, KW did get us fixed up and everything was warranted as it should have been. I just hold my breath when we are dealing with warranty with those guys because we have had some things that should have been a no brainer in which warranty was denied to us.

I driving a 2012 386 with the MX engine in it 13 speed trans. Less then 4k on it right now and it is doing about 5.0 to 6.0 mpg running at 65 mph. But when I start to climb up hills I loss a lot of power. Dropping down to 30mph most if the time. I pull a reefer no more then 80k gross but are all these MX engines just that weak? Or is it a sign that something else is going wrong?

No should be that bad but something wrong , they are good pullers but the most unreliable engine the world has ever seen

First of I am new to post here so I'll introduce myself. I've worked at a Pete / Volvo shop for 11 years. I am trained and certified Cummins and Paccar MX. There are no great engines like the old N14 or 3406E anymore. I would say looking at 2010 emmision engines in a Pete go with the Cummins ISX 15 or 11.9(for light haul)CM2250 engines for sure. We at our dealership have had way less issues with the newer Cummins engines. The 07-10 ISX cm 871 had its issues but it was there first go around with DPFs. Also for the most part they are real good now that they got the injector timming figured out to take care of oil filter plugging,DOC plugging, low power, and smoking. It seems most MX engines we sold are more troublesome than the 2010 Cummins engines. EGR coolers plug, fuel milage poor, jakes poor, let alone the service info site Rapido is horable in our shop we call it crapido. Comparing the Mx serive tool (davie) to Cummins(insite) or Cats (ET) is like compaing a Atari to Nintendo Wii. The Davie tool just plain sucks. There is a online site for tech info called supportnet that is horable also.
These things all account to when there is a issue with a MX engine it takes us way longer to get it figured out and get you guys back on the road. And after all thats what really counts.

OK, here is some facts about the Paccar MX that comes with the 2011 Pete 386, also know as the Aero. I have been driving one since May 2011, just turned 90,000 on the engine. Here is what I have went through thus far.
The water pump starting leaking and the hoses vibrated lose after 72,000 mi. No prob. to me as all trucks go through the break in period and it was under warranty. As far as the ERG thing, Peterbilt had a recall for the early Jan. models of the 386 because the ERG Valve was losing it's seal and leaking oil on the exhast and losing power. I did not have that prob. because I purchased mine in May. The Check Engine Light Thing, yes, was a problem after I bought the truck, Rush Peterbilt could not fix it because they continued to re-install the improper software for the ECM, I took it to a Peterbilt dealer, the problem has not returned.
I just hauled 42,683 lbs from Fremont MI. to McDonough GA. (Target LD) Via I-24 through TN. I got 6.0 on my trip MPG. I have hauled 43,000+ from Kansas City to Houston and got 6.4 but that trip is mostly flat after MO.
The filter thing, the only filter I have to go buy because no one else carries, is the in glass, Primary Fuel filter, I paid $69 and some change for them. as far as the other filters, during PM's, TA's, Wingfoot's have always had the other filters, I just have to bring them the in Glass Primary, because they don't carry it.
Also, the exhaust stack started to rattle lose around 75,000, no biggie, just tightened it down and all is well
I am having one more possible prob. but it may be a filter thing, that is when I first got the truck the DEF (from full tank to empty) would last around 5,100 mi, now it only lasts for about 4,500 and seems to be declining, I will be checking it out next weekend when I get home.
Other than that, the Pete 386 with the Paccar MX 2250 Cummings has been great, I am glad I got it, oh, it has the Eaton fuller 13sp. Hope this has helped with any curiosity's.

Rightlane369. Do you have a Paccar MX enigne or a Cummins ISX CM2250? They are not the same.

Pete, you can use the quote button at the bottom right. Multiple quotes, use the button beside it (paper with ") and it turns red. Select all the posts you want to multiquote and then hit the quote button on the last one. :biggrin_25525:

I have a '12 Pete with a 15 L cummins and it has only been to the shop for an egr filter. Currently at 110K miles. my only complaint is that once you drop below high direct on a hill, you run down thru the gears quickly because of the reduced power.
did have a loose exhaust stack(replaced one nut myself) had a loose clamp on turbo(just tightened) lost my dash lights(loose ground)
mine is governed at 65 which probably is good for me. I'm averaging 5.5 mpg hauling alot of wide load thru upper midwest. I doubt I get 5K to a tank of def but I fill up from bulk and have no idea of gallons used
