    Is Prime computing your fuel mileage?,cause if they are they are taking account Out of Route miles compared to paid miles

    Just wondering how are you computing it?
    Pump to Pump?
    Or off of your dash readout
    Go back to your fuel slips!!!

    Congrats on your lease, I hope it works out for you.

    This is what I would do:

    1. Dynamic wheel balancers, I use Centramatics but BalanceMasters work as well. Even if you don't see an improvement in mpg (I got .25 mpg) the tires will last a lot longer and the ride will be better.

    2. Keep the trailer as close to the back of cab as possible. Keep the 5th wheel slides lubricated and slide the wheel to get as close as possible without putting the steers overweight. When running empty just make it a habit to slide it all the way forward.

    3. Mileage is made in the flats and lost in the hills. On the flats stay at the lower end of the torque curve (1100ish). on the hills go no higher than peak torque (1400ish). Back off the throttle a bit going up a grade, try staying somewhere between 80 and 90% load. It is a bit of juggle.

    4. Find out what the engine is tuned to, and how it's been limited. Ya need the torque. If the torque has been cut back it will not get good fuel economy.

    5. Personally I think that 150k miles for an engine breakin is BS. It's not the 1950's anymore.

    Well, you must have had REAL bad tires to lose 0.25 mpg just due to out of balance condition :biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559:

    .25 is an unmeasurable amount. They do save you money especially on your steers. But the savings is in maintenance. Not fuel savings

    If it was the 1950's and you had 150,000 on a truck you would be ready for an overhaul. Anything mechanical needs time for the moving parts to seat.

    Only man here talking sense! He offers good advice and ye attack him ! Real stand up guys! .25 is no problem work out, all you need is a brain! Simple mathematics, Modern engines are run in at about 50-60,000 miles, unbalanced wheels have wobble, this produces friction, this affects your mpg's. Good advice mate, pity it wasn't appreciated.

    What do you mean "cut back under primes restrictions". Are you leased to prime under a net lease where they pay for fuel ?

    i have a 2000 379 pete with a c-15 cat in it. i changed all 4 batteries and it will spin over but won't fire off--any ideas why??
