Most performance articles in the trucking magazines will at least consult with Bruce and if you talk to him you will find he knows his stuff.
What air hoses? Do you mean in the intake system?

yes..the most important gauge you will need and might not have is a pyrometer , measures exhaust gas temps.

How much does a set of twins run $ wise? I know that that is functional in LDD performance to decrease EGT's (so is water/meth injection, but that isn't quite as practical).

What gauges do you guys watch? I know in my LDD manual, it's primarily boost and EGT's. Fuel pressure would be to an extent (but if I had a fuel system it wouldn't be an issue). Some people hook up an exhaust back pressure gauge, which I would probably to to make sure I'm not over-spooling the turbo (may remove it after I get used to it).
The Pittsburgh box is ancient and crude. It's very similar to the TST box for pickups. Runs hot, not drive able cranked up, hard on head gaskets ext. they make power but there are way better ways of doing it. ECM Tunes are way better.

PDI, BullyDog, DieselSpec are 3 that do custom tunes. I have 3 with Stage 1 PDI tunes which add the same HP that the PP box claims but unlike the box you can actually use the power. I can hold it to the floor all day and the pyro never goes above 900*. The guys I know with the PP box can't run them above 3 without babysitting gauges. Seems the guys with big HP tunes in their BullyDog downloaders have the same good reviews.

Well let's consider the engines so "great" they were imported to the US market from Europe. The gutless Mercedes, the Volvo D13 and the horrible D16 and the latest and greatest the Paccar MX. Is there a European powerhouse that I'm missing?

    What am I missing here?

Last I checked, the big three were the only ones overbuilt so much (detroit, cat, cummins) and CAT was the most so. I dont know an international in the same class as the 3406, 60 series, or N-14,(altho it probably exists andi'm just ignorant) but normally the international engines are the stoutest of the bunch.

I just put a 550/600 turbo on a 2000 C-15 475, will this motor handle this turbo if it turned up to a 550 ?
