    379 hood isolators

The two rubber hood isolators at the top of the cowl ( about 2" x 2" at the top of the firewall )have a tendency to squeek a lot. I have tried WD40, grease, silicone spray, and every other lubricant. I have to spray these daily and even at that they will start to squeek by the end of the same day. Has any one else out there had this same problem, and what have you done to help the situation ?

Mine did the same thing untill I was getting a tire repaired, and seen a bucket of murphys tire lube the thick greasy stuff. I put some on and it lasted for a month at least. I also twisted my bottom guides alittle bit more for a tighter fit.

I know exactly what you're talking about! There are poly-urethane replacement bushings available. (Blue in color) They are the answer to your squeaking problem.

I've used the wax stick lubricant that I use on door latches. Heck, if it was a Freightliner you'd never hear it over all the door rattles.

    No problem on mine.
Told the mechanic about it. So they just removed both rubber isolaters lol no more problems.

i just put a squirt or two of red tack grease from my grease gun on the hood isolators once every few weeks while i have my hood open for my pre trip. virtually non issue, when the squeak comes is just a reminder you need to pull your grease gun out and grease a few things on your truck. just think of it as a pm reminder. every pete i have ever drove has had this issue, but there is far less rattles and squeaks in petes as most other brands.

I just use grease. Only problem is when you decide to do a good window cleaning with Windex or something like that as I always tend to get grease on my jacket etc.

Get a pair of leather gloves and put them over the isolators just like putting your hand in them. Takes the wiggle/squeak out and it's clean. Works like a charm.

I always used white lithium grease. NAPA carries it in 1# tubs, kept it right in the truck. Usually dabbed some on at grease time or if I was waiting to load or unload ect. Clean off the extra once in awhile. No big deal. Put it on the other hood guides, makes the hood way easier to open. None of that standing on the bumper stuff, just grab the handhold and pull.
