Probably the jake is hanging up on one valve. just guessing.

in other words when you depress the fuel pedal it pops and sounds like its backfireing? if so it could be the switch on the clutch pedal linkage going bad or a ecm problem. or is it just one jake sticking or the whole jake?

It's coming on in all three stages, when shifting, or when you are sitting and idling, when you push on the throttle it come on, but if you have the cruise set it's not on. Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.

i would say a broke wire. or ecm or a shorted out wire. you can pull the valve cover and unplug the power wires that go to each jake if your needing to run. tape up the ends so they wont short out. but you wont have a functioning jake then.

so let me see if i understand this. your jake is on all the time but not when you have the fuel pedal down. just when you shift or idling? do you have the main jake power switch in the on position? if so leave it off until you need it.

When the main switch is in the off position it is still coming on, but it only comes on when I am not on the throttle or when the cruise is on, in other words when I float the gears it comes on and I have to double clutch to keep it from coming on. When I am coming into the scales, I am having a hard time keeping it off. I thought it was the on/off switch, but put a new one on and it's still coming on.

ok i'm stumped. there is something supplying power all the time. it's an electrical issue. there isnt anything wrong with the jakes from what you saying. as long as it doesnt try to come on when your giving it fuel you wont hurt anything. just have to be on your toes when shifting. or lay your foot on the clutch pedal to deactivate the jake. when your going into the scales. but dont ride the clutch pedal all the time or you will burn up your throw out bearing. it's not the best way but it will get you by.
