I was wondering if there is a preferred method to refilling the def at the pump? Only reason is my def cap is on the passenger side of the truck. I notice most pump location are on the driver's side.

I'd fuel when they aren't busy and fuel driving through the other way, if it was me, or unhook and fuel.

I've seen guys with Paccars buying DEF in the jugs just to get around that, but it is so much less trouble to pump it.

Our shop fills it for us most of the time, though, and maybe that is what Paccar was thinking when they offered the right side DEF tank as an option. My Cascadia went to the yellow just as I pulled into the yard, it derates at that point, but I didn't care, I was home and someone else will fill it tomorrow.

Them putting it on the pass side was bone headed. Like the other poster said most pull in against the flow . Had it out with one fellow , he cussed out my trainee because he pulled up facing him. Trainee thought that the other truck was being towed. Just be prepared to back out. Paccar and hino are the only 2 that did it wrong. Wish they had made a remote fill, seems they could done this easily? Hide it under the sleeper , may be have filler bout foot above the tank on the drivers side and hav. Cross over tube to the tank. That's if the layout forced the tank to the right side. Seems it could have been much better thought out!

What is DEF is that something you put in yout tank??
So I guess when you high mpg guys are talking you are including the cost of the DEF?
I am not real smart but i did gradudate the sixth grade. So if i am getting about 6mpg then I got to put 6% DEF in the tank that in the real world mean that I am only getting 2.4 mph this stuff confuses me.

Yeah i was thinking that was the best option is to go via the wrong way to fill def at the pump since its 2.79 per gallon vise 14.99 for a 2.5 gallon bucket.

Have the same problem with my 2012 386. I try to fuel when pumps are not busy and add DEF from right hand pump then add fuel from regular pump. Ties up 2 pumps but works. Have asked other drivers for permission to use the right hand pump if necessary and never been refused. Only takes 5 minutes for DEF.
