That's all well and good, but I wouldn't call that stretch of 287 in Texas, "real world conditions. JMHO

Fox news, Life Styles - Auto section has an article. 9.9 MPG. 25,000 less in Diesel per year. low rolling resistance tires, lighter materials, improved areodynamics including trailer, high eff engine. basically whats in a car today.

How long till most of the door slammers out there clean off the sleeper skirts bumping a dock?
Even better, what do you do with those fancy wheel skirts when its wintertime and you need to chain?

Well then ya get about 5.5-6.5. Ha. That'll make it real convenient to check and inflate the drives. No worries, the first blowout will take care of that.

I'm a little surprised Peterbilt put an ISX 15 in a show truck. They've really been "hard selling" the MX series.

I would "guess" that Cummins has a pretty big stake in the development let's face it, Cummins doesn't have a platform of their own.

I WILL be a little surprised if you don't soon see a setup like this on a PRO STAR, seeing as they (INTERNATIONAL) have no big bore motor of their own, and that Cummings just basically SAVED their butt.

I have no doubt they achieved 10 mpg, but that doesn't tell the whole story.

Cummins has a history of not being completely honest with MPG.

In 2002, shortly after one could no longer order a Series 60 in an International, they ( International and Cummins) had a brochure called "The Package" where a 9300 with an ISX was compared to an identical 9300 with a Series 60. The ISX came out on top in fuel efficiency tests. Obviously. But what they failed to mention was that the selected gearing was 100 RPM slower than what Detroit recommended for the Series 60. Anybody that knew anything about Series 60's of that era, knew that they should run at 1450, not 1350.

Cummins used to publish the 10 hard rules of MPG where one of the rules was that MPG in trucks over 65,000 # suffered significantly. Well guess what this Super Truck weighs?

Another rule was that carriers that ran east-west archived less fuel efficiency than those that ran north-south. Where did this super truck go to achieve this remarkable feat?

In sorry, but a 65,000# gross weight is a truck only carrying 2/3 of a load in the "real world".
