My OAT sensor isn't working, just comes up as a bunch of dashes on the display. Is there a cheap/easy fix for this that anyone knows of?

Check for damaged wires or corroded terminals in that circuit. Don't know where that sensor is located on that truck, try looking behind the front bumper or grill.

It's the little black thing riveted to the bottom of the drivers side mirror. I don't have the part #, but they are available separately from the mirror, but you have to find a dealer that cares enough to look into it, most want to sell you the whole mirror.

First step is to check the wiring, but if you do need a sensor, don't let a dealer tell you that you have to buy a whole mirror.

Ha! Had the local peckerbilt dealer tell a driver he had to buy a complete taillight assembly because he had a taillight out, and there weren't any screws in the lens. I slid the lens out of the grimmer, replaced the bulb, and checked my work- sometimes the dealerships are less trustworthy than a lowly truckstop shop.

I wouldn't say that the Pete dealer that tried to sell me the whole mirror was dishonest, just not willing to look farther than what the Pete system said. In the Pete parts system, there is no breakdown of the mirror, so the simple answer was to sell a whole mirror. It was actually a Kenworth dealer that took the extra initiative, because they agreed that it was nonsense to replace a $350.00 mirror for a sensor. This was about 2 years ago, so I don't remember the part #, but it was like $65.00 for the sensor.

We didn't really care about the sensor at first, but the heated mirrors didn't work, I was told that they use the OAT sensor because they only work when it's cold enough to need them. The sensor fixed the mirror issue. The A/C did work, but I was told that the A/C uses the sensor to disable the A/C below freezing.
