I've a 2012 Pete garbage truck with Cummins PX8 and allison automatic. Truck runs fine and then just dies. No codes no warning lights no nothing. Turn the key off, then back on and it runs fine. I can't find any visible harness issues.
Frustrated

sounds like it might be a relay getting hot. causeing the shut down. how long do you wait before restarting the truck??
CondoCruiser Thanks this. -
It sounds like trash in the tank. No pun intended!

jWhat does the diagnostic computer readout tell you? Outta the thin air,,i'll weigh in with saying its a clogged exhaust filter.
-
The diagnostic computer doesn't read any trouble codes at all. Nothing.
Thanks! -
I take it you are meaning crap in the fuel tank??
Thanks! -
Had same problems with a volvo.. same engine and tranny... it was wiring harness shorting out...had to replace it about once a year..
-
Engine harness was my thoughts as well. The whole electrical system shuts down like you turned the disconnect off.
Thanks! -
30 seconds to a minute. Thanks!

18 years as a mechanic for WM. All depends on the body maker for this, but is it a Universal, Labre, Etc? Some builders installed home made tanks at the factory. When it stalls, open your fuel tank cap. If you hear air suck in, the breather is plugged or none existent. After a few hours of sucking fuel, the tank creates a vaccumn and wont let fuel into the engine. Try leaving your cap loose and see.
