2007 Pete 379 outside temp gauage is all over the place 180 area most of time. Can I replace the cable or could it have a short ? Any idea where it ends up ?

Probably a short or defective probe. The probe sensor I read before is on the air intake. Either that big duct pipe or the air cleaner itself. Maybe it fell out and is hanging against the engine? :)

You also can try cycling between Fahrenheit and Celsius and see if that might reset it? You do that by holding the trip set in for 10 seconds or something like that.

I pressed the trip button rapidly. I think it took 3 button presses in a second.

The outside temp sensor is in the bottom of the drivers side mirror, a little black round nub held in there by 2 rivets. Pete does sell them separately for about $35 and it comes with all the rivets you'll need to pull the end off of the mirror. to change it. They do go bad, I've changed a bunch.

Before you change it, check the connections inside the mirror and look for any bad spots in the wires running along the mirror bracket. You have to pull the gray plastic plug out of the mirror, then you can pull the harness out enough to get to the plugs. The temp sensor is the 2 black wires.

If you do need a sensor, I can give you the part # monday when I get to work. They are not easy to find and I hear of many dealerships not being able to find them and try to sell the whole mirror for around $550. Our Pete dealer found them for us.

Edit: If anyone needs one, the Outside Air Temperature Sensor is P/N - H16702AT (my cost last time was 33.95). It comes with the sensor and a handfull of rivets. You have to take the end off the mirror off by drilling out the rivets. Be very carful getting the rivets out of the plastic motor, the motor (P/N - 38205) is $196.00, so don't break it. Get the wires in there right too, there's not much room, you can pinch them easy.
