Expansion valves are normally located at the evap. inlet.
needtoknownow Thanks this. -
You should have one on firewall and one in sleeper

04 will not have an expansion valve. They use an oraface tube in the high side line either where the line goes into the evap core at the firewall or the inlet side of the condensor. Most of the time its in the evap core side, they sell a tool to get them out but a small pair of needle nose usually works. Different colors are different screen sizes so use the same color. They are directional as well.

AND if you need to replace it, chances are you need to flush the entire system to get rid of the junk that plugged it up because they do not wear out.

I recall back in the 70's I was driving about a 74 or 75 conventional KW. The sleeper AC was not blowing cold air but the truck AC was working just fine. The shop at Quartzsite, AZ said the expansion valve was stopped up, & he did not have one for it. He took a small drill bit & drilled in out by hand, after that it blew very cold air & I never had no more problems with it.

My 05 379 has the orange orifice tube on the firewall and an expansion valve on the bunk evap. You will have to take up the panel under the matress (passenger side).
needtoknownow Thanks this.
