Hey all, I am looking for some info on a 2010 Peterbilt 386, has a C13 Acert, 13speed, 500k miles. Looking to see what kind of, if any engine problems, truck problems, etc... Thanks in advance!

I was looking at the same on allstates page. Nice looking trucks, but know nothing about the C13.

The Acert hasn't earned it's title as Cats worst engine ever, for no particular reason.
In all fairness, mechanically- the c13/15 are probably cats best engine ever. But all the last moment EPA standard additions; killed it.
Navistar is facing something similar with the Maxfarce 13 and Paccar is quickly on it's way to litigation with the MX series.
Seems only Cummins, Mack, DD and to a lessor degree, Volvo D series are the only ones out there without litigation pending, just on their engines.VagabondTrucker Thanks this. -

Does anyone have any info on how they are functioning after any recalls or warranty fixes? Does it have continually the same problems?

Is there a difference between a c13 and a c13 acert?

I doubt highly, that this is the case. All trucks, unless they're gliders and have a carry-over or refurb pre-emissions engine, after '07; are engines with emissions controls.
I don't know if that is exactly the case, and if you're seeing trucks listed on sites like Truck Papers, and these trucks are listed as just "c-15's" you need to take it with a big grain of salt. Thumb through the results on some other specific searches on websites like that, they're typically submitted by a dealer who will try to upsale interest in their lots through misleading descriptions. A great for instance is KW studio sleepers. When you narrow the search results on Truck Papers to search specificaly for t-660's or kw 900's with studio sleepers, you will see brand new trucks, that are listed as studio sleepers, with accompanying (non-stock) pictures of a truck that is not in fact a studio sleeper.
I'd say something similar to that happens around 40'ish% of the time on results from online truck classifed ads. In short- a lot of time, people lie.

As far as Acert goes, according to CAT:
"ACERT Technology represents a series of evolutionary and incremental improvements developed by Caterpillar. For example:
- The fuel system allows for multiple injections each combustion cycle. Small amounts of fuel are injected at precise times to achieve the combined goals of fuel economy and lower emissions.
- An advanced air system provides more cool air in the combustion chamber. A wastegate turbocharger provides excellent low-end response. In addition, crossflow cylinder heads provide a direct path of air to the engine. "
Maybe the acronym is something like "Advanced combustion emissions recovery technology?" Dunno, total shot in the dark. They do love their "selective catalytic recovery" acronyms, though. Them, and DD/Navistar, as well.
EDIT: Did a bit of a dig, and found it! ACERT- "Advanced Combustion Emissions Reduction Technology"

From what I'm understanding is the owners of the models with the regen.systems have a class action suit. I have a 07 C-15 without it and have over 920,000 with no major problems as of yet. Most owners I talked with have made out ok except those with sensors, dpf, and regen.systems.
