Hey guys and gals,
I was just curious if my truck is a long or short hood version. The hood measures 68 inchs from the back near the cab, to the front of the grill.
I tried googling it, but didnt have much luck finding the info I was looking for, thanks.

Surely you jest, 15 yrs and you don't know if you are driving a hood or not?

The measurements typically go from grill to back wall of the cab. For instance my ext hood 359 is 127" my standard hood is 119 and a short is 113. The 119 is typically considered a short hood. On the 379 the 119 is the short hood version. On most any Kenworth with square head lights the L is the long hood version and the B is the short hood. This applies to the W900 model. On the A models I think the measurements are real similar to the Pete's but not 100 percent on that

Thanks wore out, Ill measure to the back of the cab tomorrow! -
It's just like wore out said, they have a BBC measurement (bumper to back of cab). All of our 379's are 119.5", which is a standard hood. 127" is the extended hood.

I miss the long hood bobbing down the road. Sniff.

It's easy to tell without measuring. If the backside of the fenders come right up to the frontside of the cab it's a short hood. If you have a foot of panel behind the fender to the cab it's long. I'll post pics

Short hood
Long hood -
That is super easy, and I do have a long hood!
Semi retired,
I didnt mind the 4964 I had, or the t800's I used to drive, but I do really like this 379 so far. I bought it to do gravel/grain hauling, and some personal lowboy work. I know the truck stereotypically isnt used for what I want to use it for, but I dont care, Im going to use it anyways!
It is a very comfortable truck. I was also surprised at how sharp it turns compared to the 4964 I used to own. I do have some issues to go through with the truck, but I bought it cheap enough, and I dont use a truck that terribly much, that I think I will enjoy the hell outta it when I do get to use it!
Thank you everyone for the answers and help, I know it seems like a silly question, and I do appreciate all the answers.
