I was just put into a 579 by my company and i found that the driver side door likes to randomly lock itself. I could not seem to find any reason as to why this might be in the operators manual and was curious if anyone here had any answers. As far as I know we do not have remote controlled locks with this truck. Does anyone know if there is a saftey feature included with this truck to auto lock the driver door after x amount of time or if certain conditions are met?
I am not the first person to report this as an issue to my company btw. They claim to have contacted peterbilt with no success to getting an answer. I may call them next week but have found the internet know more than most companies customer service department.

Did you check around for the Key FOB?
http://www.peterbilt.com/resources/Peterbilt Operator Manuals/579_Manual_English.pdfMooose Thanks this. -
The common joke around the yard is that ghosts are donig it and all the new petes are haunted.

Haven't looked for one yet. I was under the impression that these trucks were not set up for keyless/remote entry and thought that meant they did not have the key fob. -
There is no keyless remote entry remote that I have been able to find in the truck and I asked the guys at the shop here at the yard, they also said these trucks do not come with a FOB/ remote

There is a federal recall, recall 114-A, to solve this issue. Have your company take your 579 and 567 units in to a Pete dealership to have this resolved. It is a serious safety issue.
Tell me the last six digits of your VIN and I will confirm if your truck is affected by the recallMike P. 2819 Thanks this. -
P.s; your company is lying to you. If they have called a dealership, they would have been told about this issue. Its not old. It was announced in February and the dealership has probably done dozens of other units. If your units are in fact affected, then your company just doesn't want to down the trucks for the time it'll take to swap out the door latches. Putting drivers in risk is worth it so long as they don't have to down a truck, I guess.
