1995 379 peterbilt light issues

    truck i bought has light issues.1) the lights on top of cab will not come on, all other lights do on truck and 2)trailer night running lights will not either.. except when you hold toggle on night and let it go and trailer light s go off... ??? i am not a driver, know nothing about trucks..just bought this truck for farm. any help is appreciated thanks

    Check all the fuses under the dash and under the hood... Also try seeing if a different electrical cord will work as far as getting the trailer lights to work

    Not being a smart butt here but you mentioned you are new to this truck. It has 3 light switches. First is headlights next is Marker and 3Rd is aux lights. all three need to be on.

    Kenworth was the same way. I remember the t600 the headlamp switch had an extra prong and connector that you could connect and run the tail lamps when the headlamp switch was on or disconnect and only run the headlamps, which meant the tail lamp switch had to be switched on at night.

    I always wondered if the Peterbilt headlamp switch had that extra prong.

    Sure does I think I have escaped narrow misses with the a few bears by turning out all but nessacary lights while they were flipping
