Does anyone know if the 389's have a spring on the clutch linkage, about a week ago I had to start using my foot to pull the pedal out of the free play . I cannot remember seeing one but according to the Peterbilt parts website they do sell one. Thanks

I believe it's a spring wrapped around one of the shafts, not easy to see or change. Most of the time, it's just the shafts or end links sticking, very common on many Pete's. If you have the remote lube fittings for the clutch linkage, it's probably the rod ends, you'll have to pull the rod off to do a good job cleaning them up or replace them. If you don't have the remote lube, the shafts may not have been greased, the zerk fittings are almost impossible to see unless you know that they are there.
If the spring is broke, which I think in around the rear shaft, you'll have to pull the shaft out, which wouldn't be too bad if you could see what you're doing, but there's not much room to work, so they can be a real pain to work on. -
Thanks for the info, I have the remote lube bank and everything gets greased regularly. I changed out the linkage tube back in October so there is new rubbers in either end but couldn't recall if there was a spring

There are two greasing point just above the air tank on your driver's side. Hard to see and hard to reach
