Let me just start by saying im pretty new to trucks, and trucking, so try to take it easy on me here. Im having an issue with my suspension load gauge sticking. I used to use it to adjust my tandems (I pull a reefer box, btw) and got to the point where I only needed to scale the real heavy loads. Now it seems to stick and I cant use it...

If I drop a trailer it will fall to almost the bottom of the dial, and bounce slightly on rough ground, like it always has. But when I pick up an empty trailer, most times it jumps up to about the level I would expect, but the needle doesn't bounce at all when I hit any rough patches, like it used to. However,

My problem is when I get loaded. It will jump up to 50 (not sure what the units are, it doesn't say on the gauge) and stick there, never moving until emptied or trailer is dropped. In this tractor, getting the needle to a hair over 70 on the dial means you have 34k on the drives. With that knowledge, and a guesstimate of the overall load weight, I could set my tandems correctly without needing a scale. Now that the guage doesn't work, I have to guess where to put them, scale, guess how much to move them, scale, repeat. Its becoming pretty frustrating!

Anyone know how to fix this, or have any idea what's wrong? I talked to the company shop guys... they had literally no idea what I was even talking about.

    TIA.

I'll ask about it next time I'm in a terminal. It's a company truck, so im supposed to let them do stuff like that.
