I hope I can get some real sound advice here. I looking to buy a 579 pete 72 in sleeper. I am a private carrier and most of my loads are 30000# or less. most of my work is regional out a day or two at most.

im looking at the ISX 15 450 HP with 10 speed trans 3.55 rears or the MX13 455 HP 10 speed 3.55 rears.

any advice would be greatly appreciated

That ISX will out pull that mx quite easily if there is hills involved. The MX "should" make up for it in fuel mileage. As for service you can get a isx serviced darn near anywhere where the mx is a little more spotty.

The ISX, if I remember is rated a B-50 while the MX is rated a B-10. Meaning the MX will only have a 10% chance of a catastrophic breakdown while the ISX will have a 50% chance. I have a T700 with a Paccar MX and it has 240,000 on the clock. This is my 3rd one. The extent of the problems have been a fuel leak and a few sensor issues. If it was my money I was spending, I would buy the MX.

A friend of mine has a fleet of 8 trucks. Cat, Cummins, Detroit, Paccar. His 2012 Paccar truck is broke down in Laredo for the last 3 days as there are only 2 guys in the entire city that are qualified to work on it. Has a little under 400K. One of his newest trucks and it's FOR SALE!........just sayin.

Im not a fanboy of eather motor but those figures seem out of wack on a cummins. I know the MX had injector and wrist pin issues tho I think those were resolved in 14/15 version. Just off memory

I will tell you, our mx engines are constantly in the shop. No BS, they go into the shop every week due to something wrong with either the engine or the emissions equipment. Our Cummins isx we have is the most dependable truck we have on our yard.

On the Internet. Lol. There are some diesel sites that rate the engines.

I'm driving a 2010 W 900L with a ISX 500/1650. Only has 140,000 on it. Only thing the engine has had done to it is oil and filters. Runs and pulls excellent with usual load of 42K - 44K.
Tractor had a computer issue, dash lights would go off, update took care of that. Love that truck.

Thanks for all of the information. I think I will be going with the ISX15.

Been running International MAXXforce 13 for two years & almost went bankrupt over it. Warranty took care of the problems (8 in two years) but not the 6 months down time rentals & tows.. Its a real shame drove a DT466 box truck for 20 years & only had to change the oil on that motor.
