Factory shore power plug

    Has any bought a new 579 or 389 with the factory shore power and had the male end on the truck have one prong verticals and the horizontal. Just trying see if this is a mistake or if they are really like that, called a couple of dealers and haven't gotten a straight answer.

    Sounds like a 20 amp plug.

    Ideally you would only plug that into a 20 amp receptacle/extension cord. But there are adapters that would allow you to plug into a standard 15 amp receptacle/extension cord.

    Yes but the other issue that the horizontal prong would be on the opposite side on the truck, it truly is an oddball. Checked a few recreational places but the all have the adaptor sand cords designed for what your pic shows. Thanks for your input on this.

    Oh, Is there a NEMA designation on the plug anywhere? Like 6-20P, or 250V-20?

    Cool. You're welcome.

    I don't know a whole lot about shore power setups. But that 240v circuits seems weird to me. --2 Hots, Ground, No Neutral!

    I'm curious how they are doing that. I would think a 30Amp 120volt circuit like they do on small RV's would make more sense. I've also seen big 50Amp 240volt RV circuits, but those are 4 wire. --They give you a neutral!

    Oh well, I'm sure those engineers know better then I do...

    I just want to say thanks to everyone who participated in this thread. I just recently had battery issues and the terminal I'm at has receptacles for trucks with 6-20P to a 6-20R.
