Hey guys, I want to put turn signal lights on both of my mirrors. Has anyone done this and can tell me the best way to run the wires through the mirror brackets and where the best place to get power to them(turn, running lights) any help would be greatly appreciated

If it's older then 2010, then I think it's just a matter of hooking them up. It is a factory option and we found all the wiring behind th dash to just plug them in on our 2007 379's. 2010 and newer, the lights are multi-plexed and controlled by the CECU. We added them to our 2012-2014 388's and the wiring was there, but we had to use Paccar ESA to activate the side turn signals in the CECU.

If your lights are multi-plexed, you'll need a dealer to activate them after you install them. If you try to jump the off the front or rear signals, the computer will sense added amperage and shut them down thinking there is a problem.

I have heard of people added them to the trailer circuit. That avoids needing to program the truck to accept them. Personally, I think it's better to hook them up just like factory though.

Edit: Look for the smaller bullet style LED's. The first set we put on with the normal 4" rounds and the driver complained that they were too bright in his face. We found smaller ones and the spot mirror blocks them from shining inside, but still visible front and rear from along side.

Look where the mirror heat and motor wires plug in, they are in that general area. On the right side, you can pull the lower cover with the door to change the HVAC filter, ot get to them by pulling the glove box. On the left side, you can pull on the speedo/tach panel and they are a little below it.

The left should be labeled J5, a yellow wire # 2311. The right is labeled J6, a yellow wire # 2312.

I know this is an old thread but can anyone tell me what wires to look for on a 2012 389? Will they be there under the dash like the older trucks?

I have and 08 389, on it the drivers side you take off the "molding" take screws off the gauge clusters reach in the find the stubbed labeled wires with bullet connectors if I remember correctly. Passenger side behind the glove box...... I can never find the time to figure out how to pull the wires up thru the side of the cab and up thru the mirror brackets without maybe having to unbolt the brackets and air cleaners
