We bought a used 2012 386 ISX15 and within 50mi of bringing it home, the engine light came on. The electronic dash says "see operator's manual." The operators manual says "see engine manual." The engine manual says "see exhaust aftertreatment manual. That manual says that the light means different things for different engines, but is probably DEF related. I took it back to the dealer (not a pete dealer), but their computers won't interface with this new of a truck. I replaced the DEF filter, and the DEF pump sounds fine. It uses about one tank of DEF every second or third fuel fill. Any ideas?

Do you have any actual code number or anything more specific?

No, haven't found a way to get the codes out since my dealer's computer won't talk to the truck. Gonna have to go to a different shop i guess. Thanks for the rawze link, I spent last night reading there, good stuff.

Hmm interesting, and HD truck code reader should be able to at least read what code number it is, without a actual code number it could be a code for anything.

Its a Mack dealer, and when they plugged their laptop into the truck it came up with a message saying they need to pay cummins for an upgrade for this application, but it looks like i can get cummins insite and inline on ebay for $300. They said they had a $4000 piece of software in that computer. Will insite do everything i want, like read codes, change governed mph, and remove idle shutdown?

On eBay all you're paying for is the inline adaptor, insite requires a yearly subscription that starts at around $600 I believe. The eBay kits come with a "crack" for insite 7 but Cummins put a time bomb code in insite 7 so it no longer works even with the "crack" since they have insite 8 out now that requires a internet connection to work. However you can download the Cummins insite fault viewer which is free, it will read fault codes from any truck.

Thanks a bunch for the info. Idle shutdown is a real nag for loading grain.
