    hello
I am wondering if anyone can help me find an answer to this:

I bought a new pete 579 last oct 30 to be built in January of 2015. well after one delay after another the build date was suppose to be on 2/9/15. got push back again till the week of 2/16/15.

The truck was finally built that week but I am still waiting for delivery to the New Jersey dealer. is this normal? I am getting tired of calling the dealer & I think that the salesman & dealership are tiring of me calling every few days for a status update..... the last info I got was the dealer was invoiced for the truck but they still would not give me a delivery date other than "soon"

anyone can give me any idea for what should be a normal delivery timeline would be much appreciated.
thank you for your help in advance..

yep one or two weeks after it is finished being built ,,they wait till it can be paired up and decked with a couple more trucks heading to jersey, now if you do not have a contract with a down pmt already made as well as a VIN your dealer might be selling it out from under you,,.

don't ever buy a freightliner, very hard to get it on your fishing boat and drop it over as an anchor

It's been my experience with ordering vehicles for my customers is that the manufacturer will put a higher priority on a sold unit then some stock unit for abc dealer.

Unless whatever you ordered had a part on back order, I'd be willing to bet that your dealer messed up something causing your order to be late.

For example if someone orders a unit that is easy to get and the manufacter only needs a 6 week lead time but you the customer does not need it for 12 weeks I won't place the order till we're about 7 weeks out. Customers do change their mind and the dealer may not want to be stuck with your odd ball unit.

The only problem is if the dealer forgets to place the order at the right time it does not come in on time and you would never know because they just blame the manufacter. All speculation but when a manufacter knows the unit is for a customer not stock they put a higher priority.

Was the 579 back ordered or did you not want to take delivery till after the first of the year?

Also it was ordered as a "stock unit" .they gave me some bull story why this was done... forget the reason why... I think it was because they get a better break for taking on stock....

I Know nothing on NJ laws but I know some states give dealers x amount of days/weeks past the due date to produce the vehicle or they have to refund your deposit if you request it.

Not advising you to do that but you could always bluff and say Rush Peterbilt (they're the biggest Pete dealer) has the exact truck you ordered and you want your deposit back so you can go buy it.

That usually gets them on the phone with their Pete rep to get the truck to NJ asap.

going into the dealer tomorrow ... no more phone calls...
they won't be happy to see me if they continue to jerk me around.

You could always call another dealer in nj once again bluff and say you want to get out of your purchase with your dealer and purchase one from them. They'll probably give you free advice on how to get your deposit back. Once again not advising you get your deposit back just yet but at least Peterbilt will know that you know your rights on getting your deposit back. Good luck tomorrow at Peterbilt hopefully theyre pulling the plastic off your truck when you get there.
