Hi guys. I have a 2003 379 exhd and had a clutch put in about 3 years ago. My mechanic claims he put in an easy pedal clutch, but it never feels easy, ever. I had a 1995 379 with an easy pedal that was like driving a car. How can I check if I have an easy pedal or not. And if I do, what can I do to make it easier? Thanks for any help.
Heavy clutch pedal on supposedly easy pedal

The only way to check is to pull the transmission out and look at the part number on the clutch, but if you're going to go to that extreme you might as well replace the clutch. Unless you personally bought the clutch and brought it to him or saw the box and clutch when he installed it, there's no sure way to tell if a Easy Pedal Clutch was installed without dropping the transmission.

Ptb, has zerks on the clutch linkage. usually they have a remote grease plate on the frame. I would start there. It could be the linkage is out of adjustment and or worn out. The two zerks on the bell housing affect effort also. I had a guy look at the clutch in the used Ftlr. I bought because I was told it was a Lipe. The mechanic told me no you have a Easy-Pedal. I'm just telling you what I was told. I would think you could spin the motor over and get the clutch around and use a mirror to see the part no. I think on 1 of my former trucks I borrowed a remote camera with flexible head to look at why a clutch was giving me trouble.

Much thanks to boneebone and the Admiral for the comeback. I'll spin the clutch to see if I can find a part no. I'm also having probs with a squeaky clutch pedal. I grease regularly, but have been greasing more often because of the squeak. Can't seem to get rid of it so the tranny may come out to do clutch shaft bushings if I can't due them while its in.

On the 379's, the grease fittings only grease the shafts, not the hiem joints. That could be your squeak. Try spraying some penetrating oil on all the linkage end links and see if it helps.
There is also several length clutch rods that Pete used. The wrong length hurts leverage, we dealt with that on a 2000 Pete 377. -
Hi GA, thanks for the comeback. Just sprayed some PBlaster with silicone on the clutch shaft and bingo, the squeak is gone. TY. Now how do I determine which shaft will make my pedal easier without trying them individually.

most spicer easy pedal clutches have the push in release lock on the adjuster, if it has a removable loc tab its not an easy pedal
-
Yep, it's a push in release lock. It seems that the more I spray the helm joints with lube, it gets a little easier. One friend recommended that I heat the clutch shaft bushing to break down the grease. I think I'll continue spraying the lube and greasing for a while. I'd hate to burn my truck down to the ground. Thanks for all the comebacks guys.
