hi guys, I recently installed two brand new pittsburgh power quiet performance mufflers on my 379 exhd. After reading all the info I could find, I went ahead and did it. Unless they sent me the wrong ones, these are not at all quiet by any means. I have tinnitus in both ears ( constant ringing ) so I wanted something very quiet. I wear ear plugs all day and that quiets it down some, but now I can't listen to my truck talking to me. Has anyone else had this problem with these mufflers? I confirmed with PP and they are the right part #'s (although not stamped on the muffler). Can any one recommend a really quiet muffler or pipe setup that can help this young geezer out? Thanks to any and all who comeback.
My new mufflers are still way too loud

I bought one over 1 year ago and replaced a 10yr old muff. and it wasnt much louder, but sent off 2mo. ago for one an this one was like a strat. pipe they may have changed where they are buying them from now?

I know PTI sells the same one. It's a full flow muffler which they claim the sound bounces off itself and has no restrictions. I think my blown out mufflers were quieter.

I'm not sure if it would work on your setup but how about putting a resonator ahead of the muffler? We've done that to two KW's and it quieted them down.
My N14 W900 has no muffler with a resonator. Its noisy on accel and the jake is wicked but its mellow going down the road. -
Not Peterbilt,, but a buddy has a W900 KW ('03) that had the reverse flow type muffler that KW installed from the factory. He replaced it with Pittsburg's deal and took it off 3 mos. later, just too loud for him. If you have turn outs at the end of the stack you might try cutting the tops straight so the sound goes "up".
Heard this works "kinda", and/or get the tallest stack you can handle, anything to get the noise further from your ears. I have tinnitus also, too many rock concerts and drag racing back in the day. Hope I helped.MJ1657 Thanks this. -
Hi guys, the advertisement claims these muffs are for the older crowd, quiet down the road, nice sounding jake. They had to send me the wrong ones, or somebody boxed them wrong. They claimed to add up to 50 horsepower. It sounds like it did, but I don't feel it. Although my pyrometers has cooled down some.

I installed the PP "sport" muffler about 6 months ago. Straight thru with the hundreds of little scoops on the inside pipe suposed to catch the sound.
I know I will get a ticket in Colorado with this muffler if I use the Jakes. Increased fuel mileage but it is noisy. -
If taking silent muffler. I would try walkers noisebreaker mufflers.

I'll check them out right now

Has anybody used a Donaldson Quiet Partner muffler or mufflers.
