OK, can't post pics for some reason...I know what is causing me heartburn, but don't know what they are called. Best I can figure is "bushings"...
2000 Pete 379. Hood is loose when down and bangs and vibrates my poor pooch to death. The bumpers the hood rests on that are mounted to the firewall squeak and are more irritating than my ex-wife's nagging voice. The lower portion, there are some flared guides mounted to the firewall that the "bushings" mounted to the hood go into and are adjustable in, out, up and down. It appears the "bushings" may have, at one time, been made out of a rubber but are now just the bolts. So, the parts I need names for are the "bushings" mounted to the hood, and the "bumper" the hood rests on when down. Hopefully I've provided enough info someone can finger out what I'm looking to replace.

If you go to the Peterbilt Stealership with the last six numbers of your VIN, they can find and order all the parts you need.

Get on EBay look in the peterbilt parts. They will have pics and they are all pretty much the same.

Better make sure that hood isn't rubbing against your air to air also. It'll rub a hole in it if it is.

Are you talking about these hood holders??

They do need periodic greasing. And when you replace them, don't tighten them all the way down at first. Set the hood down on them to align them, then torque down.

They are hood bushings.....the top mounts....spray w/white lithium quiets them right down...the rollers when proper are covered in rubber....and I spray them same way...coat it all white...every couple of weeks....no noise...:)

Why didnt I think of that. I bought a spray can of white lithium and keep forgetting about it, but I ended up slathering the cones with grease from my gun and making a mess.

Silicone spray or rubber dressing spray does a good job as well and not as messy as the grease

Friend of mine bonded a small square of indoor/outdoor carpet to each hoodrest bumper, no more noise and no mess.
