  3. First shut motor off. Assuming your parked in safe place.
    Let motor settle and cool.
    Check oil level.
Check if any oil in overflow of radiator
Look for oil dripping under truck
Just a couple to start with till you get more info

thanks, i'll send the info on. he just called me and said check engine light went off, oil pressure back to 21-22 and while we were talking, dropped back down to 18. he just had his truck serviced not even 3 weeks ago.

    peterbilt_2005 Thanks this.
  5. Did he have an oil change recently?

Could be bad or clogged filters

He needs to stop and have his filter changed especially if he's running a fleetgaurd filter as they clog super easy. My ISX used to clog filters and needed two filters before the service interval that is until I stopped using fleetgaurd filters

Had that happen a few years back,,bypass valve in oil filter malfunctioned,,might also check your turbo,,,a blow seal will dump oil into the exhaust , if you can not find the problem might want to get an oil sample done,

Happened to me, oil pressure gauge was showing zero pressure. Sometimes it would show 100 psi. Turned out to be an oil pressure sensor gone bad. I believe it was caused by the newby techs who change oil at TA who over filled the crankcase with oil.

They may not have changed the oil filter (by acc.) have it changed and have oil sample done at same time if it shows dirty oil they might not have changed oil?

Also check the Engine Oil Rifle Pressure Sensor... left side of the block, maybe 1/3 of the way up from the back... they leak out oil sometimes, and that's high time to replace it. Before you just throw a part at it, check the voltage, as well... should be ~5v going to the sensor.
