I had the same problem. My Pete would use more fuel out of the right tank and return vary little fuel into the left tank. I wasnt to big of a problem retill I ran out of fuel with it showing a quarter tank of fuel. I had a oversized return line put on the right tank and for the most part it has fixed the problem.

had the same problem saw the fix and tried it, tank is filling properly now thanks

did you replace one of the fuel tanks . if so that could be the problem the older tanks return fuel at the top you can hear it if you listen with the cap open and the truck running. but the newer tanks return fuel at the bottom to reduse fumes there for giving a slite resestance making more fuel return to the other tank .
tallpaul Thanks this. -
We have a 2000 Pete 387 and had a leak in left tank about half way up so we kept right one full and left one at a qt tank maybe a third of a tank. We he was messing with the fuel tank since it was pretty much empty and trying to figure out how to remove it because we patched the half way leak now leaking from the top somewhere. In doing that he also messed with some valves now it shows half tank then suddenly drops to empty and runs out but right tank will be full as if it pushed all fuel to the right side. HELP WHAT DO WE DO?

Been chasing this on a 2000 379. Replaced every fuel line and both splinters and vents. Most days it works fine then randomly it will over fill one side or not pull from the same side. Finally gave up 2 years ago and taught the driver to fill tanks close the problem side with shut offs and when other tank gets below half open valve. Never another problem.

That truck is long gone now. They took it away from me and put me in a 2013 386 with a cummins. The only fix for the old one was turn the suction line down to half way on one tank and the return valve down to half on the tank that was getting over full. I you don't know which is which, the return line is always warm as it returns warm fuel to the tank.

Fixed my issue. My POS just needed some tinkering.
