April 23rd boycott for American truckers. As part of the Hold Their Feet to the Fire events occurring across America on April 21-23 I encourage all American truckers to take part on April 23 to boycott the plan to give trucker jobs to Mexican drivers. As part of the NAU Bush intends to open all of America to Mexican trucks. True Americans are asking American truckers to ring the Capitols beltway bumper-to-bumper, three wide, nose-to-tail. Park 'em for one hour. Thousands of American truckers have committed to take part in a nation-wide effort to stop the process of displacing American truckers from their jobs. Bush and Congress need to know that Americans know who the real lifeblood and backbone of this country is! That is the American truckers. America has been sold out by our elected officials and truckers are next on the list.

I'm not inclined to get involved in a labor or protest movement where the leaders have names like Frosty and Bozo......

Your loss, your job that is. If you won't stand up for yourself then you shall get what you deserve. This is not put on by them solely. It is part of Grassfires' Hold Their Feet to the Fire. I sure hope you guys don't have kids. It's too bad you won't stand up for your country. Perhaps you do not deserve the liberties and freedoms that you do have, your children certainly won't have what you have. You apparently aren't aware of just what is happening in this country. I also find it sad that there are so many willing to stand up for you when you will not stand up for either yourself or your country. Go do a search on Google for Aztlan and watch a few of the videos. Then see if you still won't stand up for country. If you won't, you don't deserve the rights and liberties that as Americans you enjoy. "Those Who Sacrifice Liberty For Security Deserve Neither" Ben Franklin In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends. Martin Luther King Jr. (1929 - 196 For as Benjamin Franklin so wisely stated, "A nation of well informed men who have been taught to know and prize the rights which God has given them cannot be enslaved. It is in the region of ignorance that tyranny begins.

april 21-23 Burkey & Cerebrus are just waiting for something more than a few hotheads that are willing to get arrested for being disruptive and not too smart. It's pretty easy to sit around and gripe about injustice, or to say we are un-American, That's right, I said WE. I have to agree with Burkey And Cerebrus and I think you blowing smoke out your butt. It seems to me a lot of you folks in that New England area just start to whine and you think that is enough magic to change the world, there is more at stake here than Mexicans driving in the USA. Why don't you quit beating around the bush and say what you really mean instead of trying to intimidate other drivers by reffering to them as less than Americans. ..drive55cat

well said, i could not have expressed it any better than that................ |

Actually, Burky spent 20 years in the military defending his country, and has no need to be lectured on his levels of patriotism by anyone on here. By not participating in a non existent strike on April 23rd, I will instead do my very best to contribute to our economy by keeping the wheels turning, getting the loads delivered, and purchasing fuel and services on that day. And I don't believe that i will leave it up to you to decide what rights and priveleges I shoud enjoy. When you have some reasoned political arguments in favor of a strike and some realistic plans, feel free to let us know about them. But in the meantime, if all you can do is repeat the mutterings of rabble rousing radio hosts on the AM band, then don't bother to waste the bandwidth with the drivel.

Good point, Burky. It seems to me the ones that like to complain the most about someone's patriotism is usually the ones that have never served or been in a combat zone. This is not always the case. Seems odd how quick they are to shoot down a former Vet's tour of duty, not even knowing if they were ever in combat and say, because you don't agree with me you are un-American. How is it that when someone wants to do something and another person doesn't one of them must be a flag burning fool? There is another site that I used to go to. There was a heated discussion about holding freight hostage. The one that did it all the time was fairly new to being an O/O. The one that was warning him of how he could be hurting himself by repeatedly doing this was a former O/O with a dozen trucks. I almost fell out of my chair laughing when the less exp O/O accused him of being a company driver that thinks like a company man. He went on to tell him how he could not make it as an O/O. You could have heard a pin drop when he told him that he had a dozen trucks at one time! That reminds me of some of these topics. How some will put down somebody about not being patriotic. Then you find out that most of the ones be put down are former combat vets. The one's acussing them? Well they saw it on CNN and are well informed!

People that want to handle this properly need to start by voting in every election they are eligible to vote in (and encourage others to do the same). Spend some time learning about these people who run for office and VOTE. Stay up to date on laws and all proposals that get brought up. When you don't agree with something and can see how it is not good, be vocal about it. Contact your representatives, and make it known to everybody from the beginning in the numerous discussion forums and blogs avaiable to you. I have nothing against organizing and shutting down trucks once all other efforts have been exhausted, but sadly, little to nothing was done by the majority up until this point. Now, many are going through the proper government channels about this situation, and guess what? It got the government's attention and we now have politicians who are fighting for us. Take advantage of this and stay vocal about it. Popping on as a new member of a forum and questioning another driver's patriotism is not the way to unite and get drivers working together for the betterment of the industry. If you go back to the early 90's, when NAFTA was first being discussed, that is when the biggest difference could have been made. Instead, for the most part, jokes were made and nothing was really taken seriously, and NAFTA got passed, without making sure that everything about it was interest of the United States. Stop waiting until a situation becomes imminent before stepping up and trying to stop it. People have much power within our government, few take advantage of it to it's fullest level. That is what leads to corruption. ( climbs off soapbox for now
