Republicans Say Free Speech Only Applies To Government Approved Speech

"The president's right to control his own message includes the right to exclude people expressing discordant viewpoints from the audience," claims GOP lawyers defending two Republican operatives accused of civil rights violations.

The Republican goons prevented 3 American, taxpaying citizens from attending a taxpayer-funded, public town hall meeting where Bush was speaking regarding Social Security.

Their crime? An anti-Bush bumpersticker.

Bush, who has spent much of the last seven years kicking at the very foundations of our country, dragging the Constitution to court to argue that there is no Habeas Corpus, no Fourth Amendment, no Fifth, no Sixth, keeps his anti-American train a-rollin'.

His lawyers should work hard. If Bush is ever brought to trial on charges of treason -- as he should be -- it'll be tough to keep their boy from the gallows.

Yeah, right. Like that'll ever happen. You sound like you think this is a free Constitutional Republic or something.

Politicians aren't subject to the law. Nor are those with money or social standing. Welcome to the real world. If Bush is ever convicted of treason, I'll eat my Peterbilt.

We now know who is really against free speech and inocence until
proven guilty. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. These 2 Liberal Leaders
were responsible for convicting the Duke Lacross players in the media
when they were innocent for the sole reason that they were white.

Rutgar's univercity could have gotten a hefty donation for the
woman's basketball team from Imus but these 2 wanted his job.
Now all the people on Imus's staff are out jobs. Imus raised
millions of dollars for charity on his show, now that will stop also.
Liberals are the ones that don't want free speech. Conservatives
just are not in favor of pornagraphic bumper stickers.

Five anti-war activists were arrested at Hillary Clinton’s fundraiser in San Francisco on Friday.

The group Global Exchange said five of its activists were detained after they held up anti-war banners at the $250 a person lunch at the Sheraton Palace Hotel.

CLINTON REJECTS FREEDOM OF SPEECH

He allows citizens to be arrested for criticizing him

As you know, there was an incident not long ago in Dharan, Saudi Arabia, where an explosion, probably set off by a terrorist, killed 19 servicemen. Some feel that Bill Clinton caused or contributed to the cause of these murders. I personally disagree. It is not the President's job to micromanage security arrangements at military bases. However, there is certainly cause for disagreement over whether the U.S. should be using its military to prop up a dictatorship. I believe Clinton has only limited responsibility for continuing a policy handed down to him by President Bush, and that his continuing the policy of supporting Saudi Arabia is not the same as causing the deaths.
Regardless of what my views are, Mrs. Mendoza apparently does feel that Clinton is responsible. At an event known as the Taste of Chicago, she allegedly said to him "You suck. And those boys died." Fifteen minutes after Clinton left, she was arrested for her comments. Her husband Glenn shouted out to her that she might need a lawyer. This intolerable use of speech caused him to be arrested as well.

At least they were allowed to return home. The Dems arrest you if you disagree with them.

I think the funny thing about the Liberals getting Imus fired
for exercising free speech is this: Imus was one of them.
He was a supporter of John F Kerry. He was vocally against the
Iraq war. You could probably say Imus was the most successful
liberal talk show host out there that regularly talked politics.
Although I greave for the good people who helped him put on his
show and the money that will no longer go to charity. I think
its ironic in a funny sort of way when the Libs show how
ignorant they are for distroying their own.

They could have handled it better. They could have had
a private meeting with Rudgers and agreed to fine Imas
a substantial amout of money to go toward Rudgar Univercity's
womans sports programs. Everyone could have won.
They just did not care.

I never really liked Imus, so I can careless. I have heard worse come from his show. But Truckvet brings up an interesting point about Imus being a liberal. He was very much a liberal, but yet he was a racist. I see that a lot. Most liberals are racists.

Imus wasn't a free speech issue. He was not barred by government from saying anything.

You are welcome to say anything you'd like (pending rthe outcome of Bush's case above), but you might have consequences. The 1st doesn't protect you from consequences. You can call someone a f---ot to his face, but the First won't protect you from losing teeth.

As for the 3 examples posted by first cav: In the Pelosi case, the report clearly says they "took over" Pelosi's office. That isn't free speech, that's trespassing.

I sincerely doubt the third, as it only seems to come from right-wing blogs.

As for Clinton: she's conservative, so what do you expect?

However, in all three cases you don't have the government asserting in a court of law that the right of these officials to speak trumps the right of a citizen who they fear might say something from attending a public event, as happened in the Denver case.

A non-partisan aside: In all the coverage of the Imus situation, the one thing I've consistently heard from everyone is, "Although I never listened to the show ...." I wouldn't characterize Imus as right or left -- tho he calls himself a Republican -- I would characterize him as boring.

Why on Earth was this guy making $20 million a year?
