CNN's report was right. it said the fastest growing group. yes their small today but in 30 or 40 yrs they'll be a larger percentage then today. you need to see the problem in advance when its still small rather then wait till its too late.

I don't care if you want to speak another language in your home or with your friends. In fact, I admire people who can understand and speak several languages. I wish we all could.

BUT -- when moving about the general population of this country... in which English is the native language -- please make the effort to speak English. "When in Rome, do as the Romans."

I had to call my local Department of Social Services last week to report abuse/neglect of an elderly patient and get her some help, and they didn't even have the option to "Press 1 for English." I had to sit through them giving instructions on their phone system, all the way through the menu, FIRST in Spanish and SECOND in English. So in calling a governmental office that my tax dollars funds I had to be treated as if the language my country speaks was a secondary language. That just infuriated me!

If they are going to live in a English-speaking country they need to learn at least enough English to function! I have to deliver nebulizers often to Mexican families where the parents have bunches of kids running around that speak English but the parents don't have a clue. I'm there giving them a nebulizer that my state Medicaid system is paying for, that was ordered by my county department of health, so my tax dollars paid for the entire thing, and they can't understand enough English for me to instruct them on how to use the darn thing to help their child. Last week I had a very sick child, and the 6 year old had to translate for me to tell their parents what to do. Geez! Talk about irresponsibility.
