I'd like to see you back up such a statement. Please explain how you think this is so.

But I'll tell you what - it does piss me off every once in a while that someone could take my job just because they could do it for less. Thankfully, I got my job because the last guy COULDN'T speak English. Here's one on the board for English speakers ... I guess.

Here in southern California, the causcaions are the minority. If you go into any bank here, no whites working. Try to get a job without a degree and you had better know spanish. I applied for a factory job, they asked me if I knew spanish, I said I did not, they told me they could not hire me because most of the workers would not be able to communicate with me. So they are taking my tax dollars, taking our jobs, taking up space and now they can truck into this country. This has gotten way out of hand.

I worked in Kalifornia for 16 years. left in 95. First it was easy to get a technical job. Later you got it if you were white with blonde hair or black of any nationality. The catch was there was only one of each per shift per department. Women were always picked over token men. Your education, experience & proficiency were considered last . Also you were the first to be layed off. Couldn't take the discrimination any longer , left & am now an unemployed new driver.
It is just getting worse & the wages are nearing minimun scale. I am now trying to survive on a 1979 pay. Luckily got a temp factory job for a few months & then?

My hubby's grandmother moved to the US from Romania in the 1920's, learned English, came into the country properly, worked hard her whole life, got hauled off in a paddy wagon during the labor movement, raised two kids, sent her son off to Culver Military Academy because he started hanging out with the wrong crowd (they lived in a Detroit suburb), and was shocked as all get out when she learned her grandson's wife was able to drive semi. She thought that was pretty cool. Lucky for me, I got to meet this awesome woman before she died. She still spoke Romanian at home and in certain circles and taught her two children to speak it along with English, and she could converse equally well in both languages. She was proud to be a proper American citizen.
