I heard their conversation loud and clear from where I sat.
He was a republican, she was a democrat.
They talked about the bible, and the issues of the day.
The discussion grew more heated, and I heard him say.

Thou shall not kill those who want to die, just to escape the gloom.

She said don't condesend me cause I know the bible too.
And I bet I get to heaven just as quick as you.
I asked for my ticket so I could be on my way.
and as I walked out the door I heard the lady say

Thou shall not kill helpless children in some crazy war somewhere.
Thou shall not kill by injection, gas chamber or the chair.
Thou shall not kill with poisen water, or polluted air.
Thou shall not kill.

I got home at midnight and I climbed into my bed.
The words that I had heard that day kept running through my head.
Then I dreamed the clouds rolled back and lightning filled the sky.
There stood God Almighty, looking me right in the eyes.

the correct translation is "You shall not murder.."

That just depends. Whats the difference in murder and to kill. When you kill something, you murdered it. You killed it. It means the same thing.
When George Bush ordered the bombs on bagdad. He ordered the murder and death of everyone under the bombs. Question is. The soldiers that accually carried out the orders, in God's eyes, are they just as guilty. I hope not. But the bible says Thou Shalt Not Kill. Thats all it says. It doesn't give any reasons why it's ok to kill. It doesn't say that if your a soldier, and your president orders you to kill something, that the act of doing so would be overlooked on judgement day.

I know this is a touchy situation. Cause the NEOCONS are gonna spin this to say I am saying our soldiers are going to hell. Fact is, no one knows who's going to hell and who ain't. Until you get there.

Murder is considered PREMEDITATED...you left with the intention of taking a life.....Killing can be accidental...You see a man hurting a woman...you pull him off and he fights you. in the struggle he's killed......are you damned?????you clearly didn't mean to kill him....but it did happen...I also agree that the Commandment was Tho Shall Not Murder.

Why do I get the (admittedly) bizarre feeling this was written to be sung to the tune of Cher's Dark Lady?

The difference is translations. But the fact still remains. Kill or murder, is both the same no matter what the translation. Did God mean that you sinned if you mistakenly killed someone? I doubt it. If you kill someone purposely, then you murdered them and you killed them. It's the same. God wasn't talking about accidents. They are both the same..
And in your little sceneio, religously speaking, you should have only protected the girl, and walked away. Remember the "turn the other cheek" passage?

I just did a side-by-side, the noriginal post & a lyric sheet of Dark Lady....either this is a stunning coincidence, or someone has a bizarre sense of humor.
