Bush Rejects Claim Al Qaeda Is as Strong as It Was Prior to 9/11

WASHINGTON — A new threat assessment headed for the White House says Al Qaeda is "better positioned to strike the West," but President Bush insists the terror network is not as strong as it was before the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

Details of the report revealed by an unnamed counterterrorism official who revealed its contents to The Associated Press said Al Qaeda is "considerably operationally stronger than a year ago" and has "regrouped to an extent not seen since 2001."

OF course he says it's wrong. Whenever something like this comes out he comes out the same way. At some point he's going to wake up and stop looking at things through rose color glasses.

I wonder who is wearing the Rose Colored Glasses.

The Democrats say, shut it down and bring our troops home. If they do, the Military won't be needed again and they can start cutting it back down in size. Since we don't have a standing Regular Army and if they cut the strength from the Reserve and national Guard, we can send the boy scouts next time.

Now, as far as terrorists, I never underestimate their capabilities as a qualified insurgent can destroy a whole village and never be heard or seen.

Smoking mirrors: Middle East Conflict; Social Needs of a Nation; National Debt; Political Expediency; Truth or Consequences and no, not the town.

We read or heard of Al Quaeda buying nuclear back packs in the 90's from Russian control of such weapons. So far they have not used one, but if they have them, why not?

Our borders have been open for a long time. Many of those from the middle East that have come here have also attended Terrorist Training Camps and i am sure our intelligence has records on many of these. Same in United Kingdom. My question is, why were these people allowed to return to the free world once they were discovered to be training in such places?

Security? It has been a joke. It is still a joke. There is no real security from the threat of Terrorists. One day soon we will see it again. Perhaps Europe, or perhaps the USA, but it is coming and many more will be murdered.

I don't follow news releases like these because they don't tell you anything
substantial and we don't have a clue as to the agenda behind the news release. Is it politically motivated?

This is just a small piece of a puzzle and the big picture is clouded by smoke. (questions/accusations/innuendo's/ etc.)

Now, I am not saying the information is not true! I am only saying, we live in a dangerous world and even though we have put a real hurt on the leadership of Al Quaeda, people are replaced and policies continue. Yes, even in the terrorist world.

$10 says the "unnamed source" is Richard Clarke. The EX-head of the counter terrorism taskforce under Clinton. Who also served for Reagan, Bush sr, Clinton and then demoted by Bush Jr.

Good reading, or audio book he wrote "Against all enemies" . It goes into detail about all the administrations and their learning process about al-queda. He was the one in charge of terrorism. It deeply explains all the reasons why all the president didn't or couldn't get bin laden.

BTW, im not pushing an ad, but if you go to [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. they will give you three free audio books to join. Download them on your hard drive, and with nero, you can copy them to CD's. I think it's like $10 a month to stay but you still get free books after that.

If your talking about corruption, lies and deceit, I agree. He is very smart. Smart enough to fool most of the people for some time. and some of the people (like you) all the time. Those who refuse to see the truth are not only blind, but are as "Bright" as Bush himself. Thats funny.

Ok so you and Truker W can debate whether he is clueless or
very smart. You both hate him, one because he is an evil
genius the other because he is a clueless idiot. Now that
we have that settled.......

Accually we agree on both points.
Clueless idiot= when it comes to protecting Americans. Doing what is best for us financially, morally, militarily, and all the good things that America needs to sustain it's soverinty and democracy. He is clueless.

Evil genius= Playing countries against each other to go to war or instigate wars so that our military contractors can benefit in the Billions. Allowing laws to be passed for energy, Rx, oil, and other huge coorperations, that can benefit in the billions. While the middle class America goes down the drain, he is an evil genius.

Fact is, he knows a whole lot more than anything may think he knows. It is the actions taken upon the knowledge provided that causes controversy within Congress and the General Public. Yet, who really has all the answers to the problems we face today and tomorrow?
