Politics Do Not Pass/Pass With Care. Today's truckers are far more educated and cognizant of the issues regarding politics due to the sharp increase in talk radio, and various trucking news media sources. Talk politics. Do truckers like politicians?

Here's the facts: The Democrats put in the Agri bill that illegal aliens would continue to get food stamps and welfare. The repubs tried to stop it. But were not successful. I realize the republicans pulled some sneaky tricks during their reign of terror. But the bottom line is the illegals will still get food stamps that we pay for.
Either side your on, who ever you think did wrong, we the people, still lose. The illegals still get freebies from the American tax payers.

It is in my post below and it is in the blog that I linked to and it is in most every news article or opinion piece about the fiasco that happened Thursday.
The republican members went on the floor and spoke out that the bill included language that gives "free health care to all illegal immigrants". They also insinuated with their language that this bill supported government health care for all.
It did neither!
It is a program REPUBLICANS wrote 10 years ago under the Clinton administration. It is called the State Childrens Health Insurance Program or SCRIP (it is also referred to as CHAMP for childrens Health and Medicare Plan).
It is a program extending health benefits to U.S. born children of immigrants who at least now, are U.S. citizens by birth.
There is language in the bill that is supported by governors in border states that eases the burden of the parents to proof the citizenship of the children, because as is the case with almost ALL lower income families, they often do not HAVE copies of things such as birth records due to the circumstance of their living conditions.
From CNN :
"In fact, governors of both parties support the certification system included in the bill for assuring that families meet citizenship requirements; the governors know that too many legal residents have been wrongly disqualified because they could not locate their birth certificates. "

This is a childrens health issue for the poor for gods sake and was proposed by your party ten freaking years ago? What's the beef? The beef is that the new budget proposal asks for 50 billion instead of 35 billion and it funds the increase with new taxes on the tobacco industry. THAT is why they are trying to stop it. It doesn't matter much anyway as Bush has promised to veto it when it comes to his desk next month. Its got NOTHING to do with providing welfare to illegal immigrants.

The fact is, the program needs to be renewed as Bush CUT the budget last year despite the numbers of children in need having DOUBLED. Congress fast-tracked the issue through the House in order for it to not be lost in the financial ether during the Congressional August break - the President as he does on most everything he gets from Congress, has every opportunity prior to signing the bill, to send it back for changes or to veto it outright as he has said he will do.

Don't believe that some called it health care for all illegal immigrants on the house floor, how about this (taken from the Congressional record)

Congressman John Culberson

“We are adding a monstrous and inexcusable financial debt on the backs of our children. You are taking away Medicare coverage from seniors and allowing states to give it to illegal aliens. This is outrageous, inexcusable, and unaffordable.

“I will stand and fight here as long as it takes to protect the treasury and the taxpayers of this country from irresponsible, irresolute, spendthrift practices of the Majority of this House.

“It is a dangerous sign that the Democrat Majority is attempting to shove this bill through this Congress with very little debate and very little sunlight. If they won’t let you read a bill or if they won’t let you talk about it, it is sure to contain lots of problems.”

No one is disputing what the Bill would or would not do. The whole discussion is about whether or not the Democrat's broke the rules to get their way.

They clearly did or they would not be apologizing and appointing committee's to look into the vote.

I guess Nancy Pelosi was lying when she said this was going to be the most open and honest congress in history.

I'm sorry, but YOU asked me how they lied, and I told you.
Change the argument if you want, but I was replying to YOUR request.

You are not at all on topic. This thread is about the illegal welfare hidden in the ag bill. The CHAMP bill is an entirely different matter.
