Politics Do Not Pass/Pass With Care. Today's truckers are far more educated and cognizant of the issues regarding politics due to the sharp increase in talk radio, and various trucking news media sources. Talk politics. Do truckers like politicians?

If DynCorp, or BlackWater is shady in their spending, and what they do with proceeds then I applaud finding this out through a fair inquiry. Not a witch hunt.]

How can this do anything but help our efforts in Iraq. Perhaps you have forgotten the article I posted on what some of these contractors are doing to our troops..or maybe you didn't read it. How can it NOT improve conditions and our efforts in Iraq to have the mercs accountable...they had to make a law because the Bush people made sure that just as they turned the government of Iraq over to the Iraqi's the contractors were made immune and could not be held accountable here or there.

There has been NO over site of these company's or their operations in Iraq...this isn't a witch hunt...a witch hunt is when an innocent is accused, given a bogus trial and burned...as a scape goat...that doesn't apply to this in my view.

These are company's that have operated outside the law and been given no bid contracts repeatedly...and you question Waxmans' motives...unbelievable...but then I'm beginning to find that more and more.

As long as it happens there and not here...the mantra...it doesn't matter...and the costs be damned...the old NIMBY mindset...I'm familiar with that...seen it before.

Your view's are so different from mine that I get the impression that it wouldn't matter to you what was done in Iraq in our name...in the name of America and it's citizens...I do care.

Think your thoughts...I will stand by mine...I don't accept the America that has been produced by the tender mercy's of the NeoCon agenda and policy.

Republican Playbook

Responding to Critics....

1. Accuse him/her/them of being politically motivated.
2. Accuse him/her/them of some ulterior motive.
3. Accuse him/her/them of not being credible.
4. Make false statements or inferences about him/her/them that tend to diminish reputations.

KJ

Amazing...I give an honest opinion on what I think that problem is here with Waxman, and am attacked by you....Tell you what Jane, other people have opinions that differ from yours. That doesn't make them stupid, wrong, or unintelligent. Just a differing opinion. If you don't think that Waxman is going on partisan witch hunts for political gain, then you show me one relevant investigation into a demo program or person he is holding now....? Surely there are demo's breaking the law as well? I can think of a few off the top of my head that need scrutiny....But Nooooooo...that wouldn't be in the cards for ol' Mr Potato head....

You said that critics from the right follow this...

" 1. Accuse him/her/them of being politically motivated.
2. Accuse him/her/them of some ulterior motive.
3. Accuse him/her/them of not being credible.
4. Make false statements or inferences about him/her/them that tend to diminish reputations."

Funny how that rings exactly what I would say about demo's....If all you want to do is pick arguments, then go back to DU, I tried.

I simply gave you my opinion of your opinion and why I have that opinion...how is that an attack?

I'm not the one getting huffy...you make statements and I make statements...we'll just agree to disagree...as far as Waxman goes...there probably are other investigations going on...however, these investigations are very timely and important...would you like to say something about the investigations he IS doing other than you think they are political witch hunts? Don't you see the value in doing this oversight...I'm amazed...and if you in your sensitivity find that just too difficult...give up....that was easy!!

Here is part of the problem...The State Dept. has finally given some information regarding their privatization policy....we could have trained a lot of soldiers and provided them with good equipment...

Use of Contractors by State Dept. Has Soared

~snip~
It was the first time that the administration had outlined the ballooning scope of the contracts, and it provided a new indication of how the State Department’s efforts to monitor private companies had not kept pace. Auditors and outside exerts say the results have been vast cost overruns, poor contract performance and, in some cases, violence that has so far gone unpunished.

A vast majority of the money goes to companies like DynCorp International and [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. to protect diplomats overseas, train foreign police forces and assist in drug eradication programs. There are only 17 contract compliance officers at the State Department’s management bureau overseeing spending of the billions of dollars onthese programs, officials said.By contrast, the Army has 70 people managing just $900 million in logistics contracts in Kuwait, Pentagon officials said.
Two new reports have delivered harsh judgments about the State Department’s handling of the contracts, including the protective services contract that employs Blackwater guards whose involvement in a Sept. 16 shooting in Baghdad has raised questions about their role in guarding American diplomats in [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. .

In a report delivered to Secretary of State [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. on Tuesday, a review panel found that there were too few American officials in Iraq to enforce the rules that apply to Blackwater and other security contractors. It also found that the conduct of the contractors had undermined the broader mission of ending the insurgency and establishing a democratic government in Iraq.

No wonder we keep getting supplemental spending requests...what a business though eh? Talk about cash flow....

Is there a point to the constant anti-war rhetoric and bashing of the President?

Bush is out of office January of 2009, what do you hope to accomplish before then?

The Dem's don't have enough votes, or enough will, to de-fund the troops, so that's not going to happen.

Where are you going with this incessant moaning and groaning about how evil Bush is?

Probably because it's the truth, and because He needs to be impeached. Whether stupid people believe it or not, Bush lied, and soldiers died. And his NEOCON good buddies made tons of money off of it. And it hasn't done 1 good thing for the USA.

I think it's interesting...and an opportunity to learn what works and what doesn't...what's really happening in Iraq...(we get bits and pieces) and how our money is being spent...

Why? You call it what you will...I can't help but wonder how much time was spent in here on subjects like dress stains..I'll bet a lot.

Besides, there are people in here that seem to think over sight is just a political ploy and not germane to our efforts in this 'War on Terror'...I happen to think otherwise.

What are you referring to as "the truth'?
And even though we all know the President is not going to get impeached, what exactly is the offense he supposedly committed?

Anytime you use the word NEOCON, I'm ignoring it, you overuse the word.

I'd say no more attacks on the U.S. is a good thing.

While I know that your question about 'What exactly has he done' is rhetorical, here is a site that has Articles drawn up that makes it clear...

[LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link.

These were submitted to the House of Representatives on December 8, 2006 by Representative McKenny....and there have been others...even against Cheney...

I wonder if you'll look at them...

Here is Kucinichs' articles of impeachment for Cheney...at least an article about them with an explanation for you....
